Playstation 3
I know there are lots of video game threads and I found a few 360 vs PS3 threads when I searched but I need some info on PS3 since I just bought one off a fellow CPer!
Exclusive titles anyone might suggest? Maybe even some titles that they prefer on PS3 over 360 (I now have both). Even any suggestions for games that are a couple of years old that I might want to try would be welcome.
Also, any suggestions on how to get the most out of it would be welcome. I already DL'd PS3 Media Server and it is great for streaming but I can't seem to get my .mkv files to work. Any ideas why? It just says corrupted data or some such thing when I try and play them.
I did stream a .mp4 720p copy of Full Metal Jacket and it worked great. And I watched Avatar on Bluray and it looked super sexy even on my 1080i TV. Can't even imagine how orgasmic it'll look when I upgrade to a 1080p television.
Thanks in advance.

I'd recommend upgrading the internal harddrive.
It's pretty quick and easy and will allow you to have more files on your PS3 (freeing up computer space for more downloads).
As for games, Uncharted 2 really kicks ass.
I also Batman: Arkham Asylum

What do you mean upgrading the internal HD? Like purchasing a new one? I have the 160gb version and that is plenty of space for me.
Although I may free up some space on my comp HD by putting some of the tv/movie files directly on the PS3. What would be the quickest/easiest way to do that?

Batman: Arkham Asylum is my favourite game in this generation of games.
Ghostbusters The Video Game was surprisingly fun.
Ratchet and Clank is must-play - the series looks phenomenal on the PS3, it's like playing a Pixar movie.
The first and second LEGO Star Wars games are fun if you want to kill a few hours. I think all the other LEGO games that came after are inferior.
edit: Oh, missed the "exclusive" part. In that case, you can't go wrong with Ratchet and Clank.

Easiest way for me is to load them all up on an external and then plug that into the playstation.
You can transfer multiple files by pressing triangle (which brings up a 'more options' tab on the right, sort of the playstation version of a right click) and following the steps.

Heavy Rain was one of the best gaming experiences I've had in years.

Little Big Planet 1 & 2 - awesome platformers.
I also really enjoyed God of War 1,2,3.
Any fighting game is IMO better on PS3 unless you prefer arcade sticks - the Dpad on the PS3 is soooooooo much better than 360 it's not even close.

It depends on what kind of gaming you like.
I actually didn't like Little Big Planet at all and couldn't stand Heavy Rain as it just a quick time events fest. Uncharted 1&2 were decent, reminded me of Tomb Raider gameplay for a new generation.
My favorite games on PS3 are Gran Turismo 5 and Demon's Souls. Demon's Souls is the one game that would make me want to even buy another PS3. I do have a PS3, unfortunately it is borked and Sony Canada won't fix it for free (Sony USA reportedly would but Sony Canada outsources it to some other company that charges like $150) so I haven't touched the thing in a long time.

Batman: Arkham Asylum and Ghostbusters are both great games but not exclusives to PS3 or any better on PS3.
The rest of the suggestions are also great games too. Video gaming has improved by leaps and bounds. You will find there is something for everyone.
Wikipedia has a list of all PS3 games, with the exclusives noted:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PS3_exclusives
Also really liked InFamous as a great PS3 exclusive.

I like Uncharted but you're a crazy person. Mass Effect takes that cake.

There was a Wolverine game that came out a couple years ago that was pretty awesome. Could probably get it cheap now too.
...and it wasn't based on the movie.

As far as exclusive games to the system I would try:
Infamous
Resistence 1& 2 (first one is better)
Killzone 2 & 3
Uncharted 1 & 2
Demon Souls
God of War 3
Gran Turismo 5
Metal Gear Solid 4
Other games not exclusive I am enjoying right now:
Marvel vs Capcom 3
Dead Space 2
Dragon's age 2
Crysis 2

Mass effect trilogy, elder scroll games, assassins creed, batman arkham games, all better series. I'd say gears and halo as well but I won't include fps games.
For the record I don't think the uncharted series sucks, they are just completely overrated. Mass effect ad assassins creed in particular are my two favorite series'.
I forgot to add, forget Killzone, it isn't that great.
