I don't think he's ever gonna be healthy scratched. It's like last season where Hartley had some weird bro-love for Wideman, even though CP wanted him healthy scratched. Only now it's Chiasson and Gulutzan.

Chiasson has been as advertised, I don't really understand all this hate for him. He's doing all the little things that go unnoticed but his play has not warranted a healthy scratch.

I'm fine with this. He's been struggling and should not be treated any differently than other players on the team.

10 game point streak just before Xmas. Has scored a goal in each of last 3 games. 20+ goals his first 3 seasons. He's been fine and has a much longer, longer, longer leash than Bennett.

Well deserved scratch IMO. He's been playing like a less talented Taylor Hall trying to deke through 4 players and he's been taking too many bad penalties.

Glad to see this finally, he's been absolutely brutal. Here's hoping that this wakes him up a bit. He looks completely lost out there, forcing plays and not using his team at all. He needs to realize this isn't junior, he's no longer head and shoulders above his peers at this level.

You scratch Bennett because you expect more from his skill and potential. Chiasson is about as good as it gets for him.

Can the Flames send Bennett to the AHL, or is he still CHL?

Why would we scratch a player that is actually one of the 12 best forwards we have and is playing to their potential?
You can be mad that we don't have enough forward options to properly fill out our top 3 lines, but scratching the forwards we do have just to replace them with a worse option makes no sense, unless, like what they are doing with Bennett is trying to get that player to realize their potential.
What does Chiasson get out of or learn from being sat? And what's the benefit to the team, we get to move another player on that line who is likely even less up to the task then Chiasson is?

I do have to agree that Monahan in the first month and a half could have easily been a healthy scratch but maybe at that time Gulutzan was still feeling his way around the locker room before making major benchings. Sometimes being a healthy scratch can be a good thing and hopefully he comes back and has a good game against the Oilers.

Scratched from playing with Johnny? Yes I would like him to never play with Johnny again. Every play dies on his stick, just dies. I don't know what Chiasson has on Gully but he's a 4th liner who has been gifted top line minutes and PP time. That is why people are getting tired of him, Hands made of bricks, can't finish, slow as a sloth. He is probably the worst player to be on Johnnys line but whatever.

A 10 game point streak a month ago and basically nothing else all year doesn't cut it. Sorry, but I've seen this song and dance too many times. The flames don't need more players who are rounding themselves out for an entire season while not scoring. For a guy that doesn't set the world on fire with his defensive play or provide much of a size factor as far as playing heavy in any way shape or form it's not enough imo.
They need the offensive players to produce. That includes doing more than just scoring. You don't see him take a game over or dominate often at all anymore.

Or maybe GG didn't think a benching for an under performing Monahan was the tonic need to help him play better.
Things are very simple from in the stands, but benching isn't the only tool in a coaches tool box, but it's one of the few fans can actually see in action. Benching only makes sense if a player isn't putting in the effort or preparation, isn't actually listenting or doing the things he's been asked to do, needs to see the game from above to learn, or requires it as a motivator. If none of those things equal what GG thought was the answer to Monahan's poor play, then why would he do it.
Fan's get too caught up in wanting to know somethings being done, or get too caught up in wanting to think things are "fair". The coaches have so much more insight and data to go on then we do when deciding on things like this.

What does Chisasson actually do on the ice besides the occasional lucky point from being on the PP?
