I like it for both teams. Ovechkin doesn't always work out for his GMs but if he fits in in Columbus, it was a great move. Scary to give up Burns though.

Wow very interesting trade..

Jackets acquire two pending UFAs which will be expensive to be resigned.

Devils also acquire a pending UFA, they also acquire Max Domi.

Ovie is hit and miss here, and I do like that he's going to be paired up with a pass first C in Giroux. That has a lot of potential and I think that top line becomes a huge hit. Really happy that my divisional rival loses their scoring leader too.

But, Brett freaking Burns. I like the acquisition. Especially with an overpaid Markov coming off the books this summer so they can afford Burns' impending raise.
And I poked around on Domi a couple of times, so I really like that grab too. That rating at that price helps NJ next year a lot.

But, he didn't stop there. He also got a 2nd thrown in? A 2nd on top of Burns and Domi for an upcoming max grid salary and a declining "I'll-never-be-a-top-pairing-D-ever-again-thanks-to-some-kid-named-zach" is pretty sweet.

This helps both teams, and I'm excited to see if Giroux becomes an assist machine for Ovie like he did once with Benn, but I really like this for the Devils.

Thanks for the quick deal, Devils wanted to add a second epic beard for the stretch run and playoffs and a PPG D/W is a great add. Domi is a great young player and we needed to shed some cap bringing in Thornton.

Losing Ovechkin is tough and Johnson is having a bounce back year, but we felt this deal was something we couldn't pass up when it came together.
