Correct, that's why I said let's see him play a game in the NHL. That's why they originally signed him.

Myself, I don't understand why Matt Tkachuk is the only offensively inclined prospect to see significant minutes with the big club. The team is missing a top-9 forward. That's inarguable.

I said this is another thread, but the lack of a forward in Stockton capable of supplanting Alex Chiasson is an indictment of the farm system. Are we seriously going to believe nobody on the Heat can beat 14 points in 48 games playing mostly with Johnny Gaudreau?

A spark is needed. Easiest way to do that is a callup. Fate does not wait for us to be ready.
Agree with this 100%

What a strange player to pick out of all the players out there to pick to use as a comparison.

Just... Odd.

It would be nice to see the Flames call someone up for a reason other than an injury.

29 points in 33 games. Good rookie pro season the kid is having.

have bennet, bouma, stajan, ferland, chiasson, F. hamilton, wideman, jokipakka, really been such strong contributors this year that it would be detrimental to the team success to have them sit in favour of some of the kids who have done seemingly well with the heat?

i'm quite annoyed that the flames don't look to be making any real line up or roster changes other than kulak in for jokipakka (hey, that's something i guess).

I agree.

At some point this organization needs to let guys that are prospects that are close to being ready develop in the NHL.

Guys like Wotherspoon, Kulak, Jankowski, Klimchuk, Poirier, Shinkaruk, actually need to be given 10 or more straight games in the NHL to develop and adjust to play at the NHL level.

I feel like development can stall if you keep guys in the AHL for too long without having to grow or adjust to the next level.

5 of those guys I listed have all played over 100 AHL games - time to let them actually have a run of play in the NHL to see if they can adapt and continue to develop at this level.

Not so much a threat as a statement. There are 15 forwards on the NHL roster right now. He's better than at least four of them.

Sam Bennett can't play centre right now. Jankowski is the most offensively gifted centre in Stockton. We bring him up, and put Bennett on that line's wing to get him going.

Or we keep playing Johnny Hockey with replacement players.

Trelivings biggest failing is the belief that you can't overcook a prospect in the AHL!

Well Jankowski is in his first year pro this season. He's having a good developmental year. Why disrupt it by bringing him up and involving him in this mess?? I think a prospect playing in the AHL after 100 games is the qualifier in # of games played that most teams take into consideration.

That's about 1.5 season in the AHL. if thats considered "over-cooking"....then I dunno.

i actually don't think that at all.

I think the flames should look at how much "meh" is coming out of a bunch of players right now (the ones i listed above), and bring in some competition for spots and hopefully see folks busting their balls trying to get noticed when they are playing, cus if they aren't, well there's another player in the press box chomping at the bit.

in past years, that hasn't been much of an option. I suppose it's a stretch to think they can even do it this year (ie. not like we have a plethora of folks ripping up the AHL and are no-brainer callups). However, i'd love to see guys like chiasson, bouma, ferland, f.hamilton, wideman, jokipakka, sit and see if others can spark some energy.

I think the notion that we will ruin players if we bring them up "when they aren't ready" is a bit ridiculous, we won't know if they are ready until they actually get more than one game with limited minutes. I don't understand the hesitation about bringing Janko up and see what he can do now, 10 games in the NHL will not ruin his development and if he shows well it will be great for us and his development as a player. He's been through 4 full years of college and has shown that the AHL has not been a big learning curve for him. Give the kid a legit shot if he does well he gives this team many more line options.

I believe the reason for our success, the year before last under Hartley, was there were so many young players willing to bust their butt to carve out a position in the NHL. And Hartley was a huge factor in getting the best out of them.

Whether or not our new coach can do the same is highly questionable, when even our best players are under performing...although Tkachuk sure has proven his worth.

If it was me, I'd continue leaving Jankowski to develop in the minors. IMO adding one player sure isn't going to cure this team.

Before we see Janko I think we'll probably see Shinkaruk again and maybe we'll get a look at Klimchuk.

Well it depends. Jankowski is a center while the other two are wingers
