Jones did a horrible job with the monologue tonight. It looked like she hadn't read it before stepping on stage. She just watched the teleprompter the entire time.

Yeah, that was weird. She was very stiff in both the monologue and the closing but not bad in the sketches themselves.

She was very awkward through the whole thing, and the skits and even the news weren't very good.

SNL has been slowly improving this year, but this episode was definitely a downslope.

Really flat episode overall, but Sturgill Simpson was excellent. Best musical performance I've seen on that show in a while.

That was the worst SNL I've seen since the Tina Fey era.
Really didnt care for Sturgill Simpson, that was like the blues crap you hear from the 80s. The jam at the end of the second song was OK.

That was the Beck Bennett show. He had a major role in almost every skit. I guess he is carrying the mail now that Killam is gone.

I liked the Cold Open, the three shy women telling jokes, and Simpson was great. And Hot Robot 3.

The dirty talk sketch was great. Best of the night IMO.

This was a solid episode. Easily one of the best over the last two seasons (but the bar is not set very high.)

Monologue was good, but aside from dirty talk I found the rest to be average. The bookworm wasn't good, aside from the Bill Nye dig. They also need to move away from animatronic sketches, they are getting played out. Kelly Conway skit was good and witty.

Weekend Update is good for a few laughs but I get board of Michael Che launching into his racial tyrades every week. Its become predictable and boring. Is his whole role on the show to take a story and spin it about how everyone is racist?

Dave Chappelle set the bar this season and its very high. Basically becuase it was Chapelle show not SNL. I still will watch but I was disappointed this week as Aziz is a great comedic actor.

Oh and someone explain Big Sean being on there and not a someone like RTJ. Big Sean is as generic hip hop as you can get and it showed.

Overall this year has been better than last although this whole starring Beck and Kyle is weak. I like Mikey Day and the ither new guy, they got some promise. Lastly what is wrong with Maria V's voice, is it for real?

EDIT: ok bad example with RTJ, no radio friendly songs but plenty others out there.

Donald Trump’s Inaugural Concert Was ‘2nd Worst Performance Lincoln Ever Attended’ - Colin Jost

Best sketch:

How can you go with Putin, and not Baldwin, the day after Trump was sworn in?

I assume Baldwin wasn't available. That's the downside of having someone who isn't a regular cast member play a major public figure, they won't always be available.
