Default 4 Flames prospects selected for ADT Challenge

The WHL/OHL and QMJHL all announcing their rosters today for the ADT Canada Russia Challenge. Pleased to see some Flames on the lists

For the Dub:
John Negrin and BIG Keith Aulie both named

For the OHL:
Greg Nemisz on the squad and TJ Brodie will be on the blueline

The only bad news is Mitch Wahl was not named - but 4 Flames prospects is a nice haul none the less.

Wouldn't Wahl be ineligible for this seeing as he's from California?

Regardless, its definitley nice to see some of Sutter's recent picks getting some love. Hopefully we see the benefits of this down the line!

And, as always with this event, the $1,000,000 question: Will the Russians send a team worth a damn? They sent one good enough to make an entertaining series of it last year. Hopefully they do again.

Not bad at all. Only one is a first rounder. Hopefully these guys keep developing.

Time to kill this Canada Russia Challenge. It got boring years ago. Isn't the World Juniors good enough?

I always thought that it was more atuned to preparing for the WJC. Helps a few prospects get exposure for consideration to the final WJC roster.

There must be a mandate that all participating players are Canadian in citizenship, as Mitch Wahl would absolutely be on this team otherwise

I would think some of them would be Russian too.

I may be wrong but hasn't the attendence been pretty good for this all along. I know it was packed when I went to it.

What is the point of killing it if it is well attended and gets both organizations a chance to look at some guys for the upcoming WJHC.

I really don't see what the downside of the games are.

The only downside is from the Russian point of view - that being that their prospects have recently been routinely smoked in this series.

Its usually the B squad, so not a huge deal there.

The tournament persists because it makes money for both Hockey Canada and the Russian Federation. It sells out in the smaller markets, and draws respectable crowds in the larger. For the smaller CHL markets, this event is probably the biggest they are likely to see. Its good for everyone.
