Oh..I see.
I'm still not too high on him though. It depends on the type of contract I suppose.

Think more effective David Jones.
Stewart is not a "straw that stirs the drink", but he's a solid RW that can improve possession by creating turnovers but playing well the other way

Are you sure we're talking about the same Chris Stewart? Because this sounds like a very different kind of player from the one that I've watched.

Taylor Chorney would be a significant improvement to the Flames 6-7 D IMO.

Considering he's a career AHL player that isn't saying much for our current bottom defencemen. I'd rather give Wotherspoon a chance.

He was very impressive to me for the Penguins in the playoffs against NYR.

The only one I really want from that list is Sekera, but as someone pointed out some team will sign him to an expensive contract and it isn't going to be us.
I see no point in signing Erhoff because he wouldn't be a top 4 D here in my opinion and it's not worth paying him the dollars he's probably looking for.
Joel Ward is 34 and will be looking for $3m/yr + to match what he's on now or maybe even more, and I can't see us paying that.

I would be okay signing Stewart but 1 year deal only or if it is a 2 year deal the cap hit is $2-2.5M per. I think the Flames need 2 top 6 wingers and while this is not a guaranteed answer it is a possible one. The fact there is no acquisition cost makes it a risk potentially worth taking.
I would also welcome one of Erhoff or Oduya on a 1 year deal

I think a couple of the group VI UFAs could be interesting AHL/depth signings
Chris Wideman, Matt Donovan or Tommy Cross on the blueline

For sure. Stewart $3M max and short term. We don't need him, he's just a nice depth piece

I've seen Ramo to the Oilers predictions on here. I know he's a UFA. Is Calgary going to let him walk and go with Hiller/Ortio next year?

This is my prediction, for sure. I'd rather see the Flames work a deal for Hiller, and keep Ramo. But, this is wishful thinking because:
(a) Hiller has another year left on his deal
(b) Hiller offers a 'veteran presence' that the Flames feel more secure with, should Ortio not be quite ready for a 1A or 1 role just yet.
Ramo is a good goalie with room for growth, but I'm not sure he's a true #1 right now. He may be attractive to the Oilers as an inexpensive option, but I think the Oilers would be better served to try and find a more established goaltender. Easier said than done, of course...

He's not the 30 goal scorer he appeared to be for a couple years. He's no more inconsistent offensively than David Jones and less inconsistent than Mason Raymond. He's a decent possession pair though which the flames forward rank severely lacks.
Again, I'm not advocating picking him up because he's going to be more for us than he had been elsewhere

more like a downgrade of David Jones due to a poor attitude and being a lazy player.

no to Chris Stewart as we don't need big players who don't play their size

I have a gut feeling we sign Antoine Vermette this summer.

People were giddy to see Rene Bourque out the door and now some want to import v2 with Chris Stewart. I hope we don't.

people still believe Chris Stewart and guys with that size/speed/skill combo will eventually break out because it happens 1 out of every 100 times and a team ends up getting Todd Bertuzzi or John Leclair
the key factor there is the 1% chance of it happening though
