I don’t think anyone even commented on your suggestion when you added in the 50% retention, much less mocked it. Your comment that posters disagreed with was prior to the 50% retention suggestion, which was a huge part of this deal.

Without the retention, any deal was dead in the water without a huge sweetener.

Canes went after De'Angelo twice. They don't care about off-ice issues if they think a guy can produce.

My impression is that no one else would touch him, so it's an overpay.
