I believe he plays both sides? So Kylington back on the left side? He and Pachal likely switch off as the #4.

Hanley, like Pahal before him, is under contract next season.

Call up rules after the deadline impacting this?
I believe you only get 4 recalls, so if Marky and Hanifin are gone that is likely 2 gone?

smart pickup. With Tanev already gone and Hanifin gone soon, adding a veteran defenseman like that makes a ton of sense.

Caps got Phillips. Doesn’t necessarily mean Flames didn’t put in a claim. Would be interesting to see if he gets sent down straight away or put on waivers again.

How do you claim back the guy you waived?

Are the Flames above the Caps?

If this gets Oesterle out of the lineup, it is well worth it.

I believe that move allows them to send him to the AHL without waiving him again.

Doesn't matter, since the Caps originally put him on waivers they get first dibs to claim him back from the Pens. Now they can send him down for free

So the trade is essentially:
Tanev for Grushnikov, 2nd, conditional 3rd and Hanley

I believe Solovyov is still injured, and Grushnikov is nowhere near ready for the NHL.
Since you only get four non-emergency recalls after the trade deadline, it makes sense to have a full-time 7th D on the NHL roster.

They only get to do that if they were the only team to put in a claim this time. However, that's probably true. We'll find out very soon.
