Apparently his wife went off on him, scratched him up and smashed his car with a golf club. He tried to drive away and hit some stuff.

A lot of things don't add up here.
If Tiger drove into the tree at a low speed(the air bags didn't deploy)it's highly unlikely that all 4 doors woudn't open.
Are we to believe she pulled an unconscious Tiger through the back window??
Stories are starting to come out that she was chasing Tiger with a golf club and he was trying to get away. This makes a lot more sense.
This is a bizarre story and I'm sure there's more to it.

TMZ report, for what its worth:
http://www.tmz.com/2009/11/28/tiger-...v-lacerations/
Quote:
Tiger Woods did not suffer facial lacerations from a car accident. They were inflicted by his wife, Elin Nordegren -- according to a conversation Woods had Friday after the accident.
Tiger has yet to be formally interviewed by the Florida Highway Patrol -- that should happen this afternoon. But we're told Tiger had a conversation Friday -- with a non-law enforcement type -- detailing what went down before his Escalade hit a fire hydrant.
We're told he said his wife had confronted him about reports that he was seeing another woman. The argument got heated and, according to our source, she scratched his face up. We're told it was then Woods beat a hasty retreat for his SUV -- but according to our source, Woods says his wife followed behind with a golf club. As Tiger drove away, she struck the vehicle several times with the club.

None of it confirmed, of course.

Yeah, he should have struck her back life a real manly man. That's what any player from a real sport would do, correct?

no that would be wrong
but running away is kind of embarrassing
not surprising though, someone like Tiger has probly never had anyone yell at him in his entire life outside of his dad. He has been pampered since he was born.
So he isn't used to anyone yelling or screaming at him and didn't know how to react, so he ran away

Actually, regardless of the circumstances, he did exactly what any man should do...remove himself from the situation instead of exascerbating it.
I dunno what happened here...but i will say this....its a perfect example of the old saying "nothing good ever happens after midnight outside your own home".

I guess its okay for a man to be abused by his wife.

I don't usually give TMZ much credit, but at least their version of the story makes some plausible sense. Much more so than his wife needing to smash out his windows to rescue him after a very low speed collision with a tree.
