If I never changed it, would that not be going against the terms of the bet?

LOL ok. I'll only change it if the Flames ever re-acquire Mike Cammalleri/David Jones/Jyrki Jokipakka or make it to the third round.

Oh man. I hope there are cameras:

Quote:
They can skate.

They have the skills.

All of them are chasing the National Hockey League dream.

But can they work as a group and, in less than a week, put together their favourite Saturday Night Live skit? Or lip sync Justin Bieber’s ‘Sorry’ in perfect harmony?

Those are the questions that will be asked later this week when the Calgary Flames prospects show their teamwork skills and perform in front of their soon-to-be-teammates.

Yes, it sounds more like drama camp than an NHL summer camp which is happening right now at WinSport’s facilities.
Quote:
Instead of focusing on strictly on-ice competition and on-ice battles, the Flames have gone in a different direction this year and decided to place more emphasis on team building and bonding activities.

”Yeah, we want to evaluate and see where they’re at . . . competitiveness is great,” said the Flames director of player development Ray Edwards. “But we don’t need to see that in July. We’ll see that in September. We’ve got guys from Sweden and overseas, from college, from junior … We’ve got 18-year-olds and 22-year-olds.
“Some of these guys are going to play together for a long time. We need to get them to understand each other, to know each other. They’ve got different personalities. So let’s get them together and force them to get outside their comfort zones.”

The camp opened on Monday with an ‘Amazing Race,’ a mentally challenging team-building session that required communication and, of course, lots of teamwork.

The performance night on Thursday following the prospects’ group dinner is another element of that. Edwards explained that the players would be split up into groups and forced to figure out a plan.

”They’ve gotta figure it out,” Edwards said with a chuckle. “It forces them to introduce themselves . . . we give them an outline, and they have to get in front of us and do it.

“It could be a fun night.”

And as horrible as the acting/singing/lip-syncing might be, the upcoming ‘Flames Have Talent’ show will provide more than just comedic relief

Nope. You could before, but after the bobsledding incident, they closed it to through traffic as far as I know.

Decent enough. There are dead spots though, but in the arena's it's fine. That's how I posted earlier today.

Kinda feels like they are trying to make these guys develop friendships so that they are motivated to play with each other in the future, planting the seed for college ufas and drafted players with options to go ufa to come back.

It's open until Friday because of lame closures on 16th Ave as an alternate

It's not that great an avatar. I'd change it as soon as you are "legally" allowed and stay the hell from any bet involving David Jones.

Don't forget about the construction the next few days at Winsport. If you're coming down, leave a bit early.

I wonder if any of the prospects are actually following this thread and reading the reviews. It probably doesn't happen with players already in the NHL but for guys just finishing college, the vast majority of whom are tech savvy (i.e. have twitter accounts, etc)...

FlamesTV recently posted an interview with Jamie McLennan, who did a "media training" session with them earlier this week (including social media). I'm wondering if one of the lessons wasn't "don't read the comments on twitter, message boards, etc..."

How would you compare Matthew Phillips with Kailer Yamamoto (Oilers 1st round draft pick). Yamamoto was more impressive in his draft year, but it was his second season. Phillips draft year was his rookie WHL season. I would rank Yamamoto higher, but I don't think it's that wide of a gap. The Flames have a good chance of striking gold with this pick.
