Details are up in the air for Gamecenter. I believe Sportsnet will announce something before the season starts.
I doubt we will see Gamecenter in the same form next year.

NHL Gamecenter Live will be the same next season, although I suspect it will be limited by more blackouts in Canada where Rogers are showing many, many games.
It's very easy to get a proxy or VPN set up which will allow you to watch any games you like.
Gamecenter is great for me as I live abroad. It's a successful app internationally for the NHL, so regardless of Rogers' coverage in Canada the NHL plans to roll out the app again for the 2014-15 season.
It's rumoured that buying NHL 15 entitles you to $25 off the annual subscription.

I already altered my proxy settings to get US netflix so the PS3 might be set already.
How does the viewing experience on gamecentre compare with watching a satellite feed of sportscentre?

I've only watched it on the iPad, as the European Playstation App Store has annoyingly never published the NHL Gamecenter App for PS3 in the UK.
It's been very good on the iPad though. Full HD streams when you have good bandwidth. A few glitches now and then, but it was good value for money last year. Hopefully it isn't too expensive now.

I've used GameCenter for years and love it. Albeit I will have far less games blacked out than you will, I subscribe to a super cheap and incredibly easy service that prevents blackouts in the same manner as mentioned on here a few times.
I've been banned for bringing it up, so if it's allowed to discuss in PM I can fill you in on what I've used for a few years.

I second Flamezilla, GCL is great if you live outside of Canada/USA.
Personally I watch it through my XB360 as the app is pretty good, it has some frustrations but you can get passed those.
If that rumour of the discount is true I am ordering NHL15 as well as I didn't bother NHL14.

Only problem I have with GCL is its delayed by about a minute or two so if you want to participate in the game threads here you are always behind the thread.

So with the changes to sportsnet will there be regional black outs? Just wondering since I live in Vancouver and if the Flames vs Oilers are playing do I have to buy CI again to watch it?

I live in Toronto and used it for a few years. It was great. The only games it'll blackout are cbc games I think. Now I use NHL Centre Ice.

I think it's just the stigma of a workaround how-to coming back to CP (as in search 'how to get around blackouts') directing people here that they are worried about. Not that there is anything wrong inherently with a VPN

Last time I tried the PS3 app, it was a steaming pile. Hopefully it got better.

Anybody had any luck using chromecast? I'm really hoping to ditch cable, as the local blackouts are a pain. I'd much rather hook up the laptop via HDMI or use something else to show the games on the bigger screen.

Not Chromecast, but have used Apple TV and it works like a dream. We ditched our cable more than a year ago and haven't looked back.

I have chromecast and it's great. It can stream any video from your chrome browser. So, if you just set it up on your computer you can stream it to your tv

Haven't tried my Chromecast with Game Center yet, but between the PS3, Apple TV and Xbox the browser was definitely my favourite way to watch the games. That's saying a lot, as the other 3 mentioned were also great experiences. Really looking forward to trying the Chromecast with my computer.

I find it works great even in Canada. I live in B.C tho so unless its a national broadcast is great. If you live in Calgary tho basically every games is a Blackout as you live in marketed area unless your resourceful.
