Here is a letter to the fans on the Canucks board.

Pretty heartbreaking stuff.

Damn, that's unbelievably sad, and unbelievably classy of him to do something like this. Best wishes to him and his family.

Gut wrenching situation. Hope he can prove the prognosis wrong.

Met him once on a flight from Winnipeg to Calgary back in 1993.

He was huge, and very polite.

He always seemed to be a happy go lucky guy who enjoyed life. Good honest player from a different culture than today's Canucks. Sad to hear about his health problem and hope somehow he can pull through but it doesn't sound good.

Happy to make small donations to his aboriginal youth foundation and to help offset expenses.

Sad. Legendary tough guy. Wish him the best. Very nice gesture of him to write a letter to the fans like that.

Horrible news for Gino and his family. I hope he can take this as long as possible and get some quality time with his family and friends.

Incredibly classy move by the Canucks fans....wait did I just say that? Seriously though that was a terrific thing to do for Odjick, a guy that battled hard for the Canucks organization.

Yup. He showed up at a hockey rink naming ceremony. He was only expected to send a video speech. "Centre Sportif Gino-Odjick"

"Odjick not only found the strength to attend the ceremony, but also to pose for pictures, speak to the crowd and even speak to the media in attendance."

The most amusing memory I have of him is a game between Vancouver and Toronto. 3 Leafs had Pavel Bure cornered after a whistle and decided to shove him. Odjick skates by and you can see him yell something. All 3 quickly turned and skated to their bench. He didn't need to fight to get his point across.
