I'd definitely welcome the opportunity to land him if we could. We need all the quality prospects we can get at this point.

I'd give a 3rd plus Cundari to the Hawks. Sort of like the Tom trade.
I want us to remain a classy organization.

Going off hockey futures they say right hand. Granted 2 other sites say left handed. Anybody know for sure without having to look at sites?

I'd be amazed if anyone knows if the draft is 54 players deep next year. Most teams would prefer an asset this year versus next. You see trades at the draft like this years 4th for next years 3rd. It happens more in the nfl but i do believe it has happened in the NHL as well.

The tom trade got us 2 2nd round picks and horak. If Chicago lets him walk they get a 2nd round pick. No chance they trade his rights for anything less than an early 2nd or a good prospect.

I'll echo the many thought in this thread. All odd Gaudreau, Arnold and Hayes will have to make the NHL on their own merit, they won't make the AHL then NHL as a line. The Flames shouldn't target him as part of a trio.
That said, if the team thinks he is a possible NHL player, then by all means, go after him.
I've been a little suspect of Hayes, his goal total took a big jump this year. Despite watching BC for our guys I cat claim to know much about him though and plead ignorance.
Would be an interesting acquisition.

The Hawks would be better off letting him walk and getting the 2015 2nd rounder. I would think the Avs' 2nd is the minimum to get them listening.

I'm with those who wouldn't feel right about doing this to Chicago, because we all know how crappy it is when done to you (and how paranoid we were about Gaudreau). If Burke is interested, I do hope that he trades something for him instead of waiting for him to go UFA.
I did like what I saw from him in the Union game...at least in the first half...he was the one who made that first goal happen. The last period he made quite a few mistakes.

Penguins 3rd round pick for him? I'm sure the hawks will accept if they don't wanna lose him for nothing.

Yes.
Hayes had a goal totals of 4, then 7, 6 as a junior then exploded to 27 as a senior.
Jankowski scored 7 goals as a freshmen then 14 as a sophomore, doubling Hayes total that year. Jankowski also plays center and his a fantastic two way pivot. I know we have shiny new toy syndrome a lot here but leave Jankowski alone to develop like Hayes has.
But send Conroy to sign Mark so he doesn't go ufa lol
Don't want to detail this thread but we shouldn't overpay for Hayes.

Honestly I don't want any part of a kid who was a marginal player until hooking up with Arnold and Johnny Hockey, then spurns the team who spent a 1st round pick on him.
Let him go hit the beach in Florida with his brother or become borderline AHL fodder like Tom.

Agreed. Jankowski is way too much in excess of a 54th overall. Our 2nd (top 35 overall) might be too much for me, but I'm not that familiar with Hayes so maybe that's good value for a draft pick that high.
Who knows what Hayes' motivations are, but a player like that would be looking for a chance to make the NHL roster in the next year or two and set themselves up for a second contract. Flames and Florida both present that opportunity for Hayes and have the added benefit of being organizations that Hayes has other ties too.

I've never seen Hayes play before Thursday's Frozen Four game, and I was not at all impressed. He was a big time puck hog when he easily could've created a cycle or fed it to the point. He turned the puck over a ton as well.
I will admit, it was just one game and he's clearly better than that, but he left a pretty underwhelming first impression on me.

I don't like the idea of picking up someone who refuses to play for a team that drafts him. I think taking advantage of this sort of thing should be discouraged.

If we can get him for nothing but cash as a UFA then I'm all for it, if we have to trade for him then forget it.
