Fair warning, you'll probably be looking at booking your next trip there during the flight back home.
Japan is fantastic, one of these days when I have a chance I will do a thread all on it's own about why Japan is so awesome.
I don't know when or if I will ever leave here to go 'home' to Calgary (been here now for 4 years), but I imagine that if I do I am probably going to get pretty upset.
Ha, great article. It definitely does seem like these days its become more important to record an event or place, than to actually take it in and enjoy the experience. Can't say I dont do it myself at times, but I always try to remind myself to put the damn camera/phone down and enjoy the view.
These two lovely tourists rolled up in a tour bus of about 30 people. Paying no mind to anyone else already taking photos they walk 15-20 feet in front of me, plants themselves in front of my camera and start taking selfies of the Elk and mountains in the background.
Wasn't mad, had to laugh. Totally unaware and they just didn't care.

Mainland Chinese? PRC tourists have a reputation for rudeness and NGAF. Apparently they're taking over Thailand and nobody wants to go there anymore.
There's a ton of Chinese travellers all over the world these days (I swear half the tourists on my recent trip to Iceland were Chinese), which guess with all the money there these days, it's only natural. Maybe it's the sheer numbers, but you definitely notice the poor etiquette. I miss the days when it was polite Japanese and orderly Germans everywhere!

I would have shown them this pic from a Japanese rail platform, 'selfie sticks are 凄く危ない!'
The Chinese tourists that visit Fukuoka (they started coming in droves last summer) are far too stereotypical IMHO; loud, hork spitting at will, traveling hordes who have no courtesy when walking by. All so very non-japanese, lol.

Since shooting would probably only involve our cameras, how about we beat you with it instead? Not even to death, just until you promise not to do it again.
