Final details are still being worked on. Indications are Travis Green will be the next head coach of the Ottawa Senators.

Sens need to be taking a step forward. This does not feel like it.

The NHL truly is a merry-go-round of extremely mediocre coaches.

Mike Green with his second gig.
Patrick Roy in his second gig now.
Lindy Ruff back with the Sabres.

Wasn't Green a finalist here once as well?

Just shows how bad Treliving was at finding coaches.

Will Ottawa ever be any good? Honestly the most underachieving team in the league over the last few years.

The same year he got heaved by the Canucks.

Green is a great coach for a bad team looking to over achieve. When the team has expectations and a lot of skill he cannot adjust his style. He coaches scared.

Senators just continue tumbling down the failed rebuild road that was paved by all other Canadian teams.

We saw it first hand here just how important coaching hires are...and Boucher, 18 games of Crawford, a run for Smith, a half-assed push from Jacques Martin, and now a Travis Green-cherry on-top?

I feel Ottawa really needed to nail the head coach hire to start moving back in the right direction. Not sure Green is that guy. Time will tell.

Green was also mentioned as a potential coach for the Flames before they chose to promote from within.

I'm a little surprised that Ottawa didn't wait a little longer to see who else might become available once the playoffs are done.

Yes. This will end well. With a top 10 pick.
