Based on this, the silence tonight will speak volumes. We don't care.

As it stands:
1) We must beat Edmonton because it's Edmonton
2) We must beat Edmonton because that helps St. Louis
3) A win would still keep us 3rd last in the league
We can confidently cheer for a win without any of our priorities falling into conflict.

game the other night was even except the goal tending, not sure how cocky the Oilers should be here. Flames have nothing to lose

They won't be looked at as a burning pile of rubble when they have 3 new fresh-faced studs donning the flaming C on June 30th. One wearing the name "MacKinnon."
And again when one of their large pool of young talented goalies proves to be a solid NHL starter for many years to come. At least Jay recognizes this need... unlike the bigger pile of rubble to the north.

I have nothing to contribute to this thread except my burning hatred of the Oilers.

Watching NBC Sports. They just showed a clip of Iginla near tears at his last press conference in Calgary.

The Flames lineup for tonight (not including backup goalie), has a salary cap hit of $45.4 million.
Adding up the same list of players' salaries for this season, comes to only $40.46 million.

With all the trade distractions over and done I expect to see a more inspired effort from the Flames tonight. It was also be interesting to see the fans reactions to Kipper not wanting to be traded.

Calgary really needs to lose those games in hand that they have over the rest of the league. They could seriously damage their chance at a top 3 pick if they were to win them.

watching the interviews with our players is very disappointing. we're not even mathematically out of the playoffs yet but the guys all talk like we're out. i want a good draft pick and all but i'd rather lose out the season because we're not a good enough team, not because we've given up.

From sportsclubstats.com:
Did not play, playoff odds down 0.07 to 0.6%
While that's not mathematically out, it's virtually impossible. Its actually a refreshing change from the "well, we just need to string together a few wins", and "well, there's still 8 games left... 6 games left... 3 games left..." we've heard the last few seasons.
It's not like they're giving up when they need to win 60% of the rest of the season. They're giving up when they need to win 99.9% of the rest of the season and have a few teams tank..

To obtain 54 points we need to go 12-2. To me that is done.
