And tied for 18th in the league (with Brodie and a few others) for +/- at +6.

Gaudreau/Kariya comparisons were not so ludicrous after all... What a performance!!

Well it happened again, for only the second time this season i was able to watch the flames play live but had to call it a night after the second period. We're losing 2-1, seem to be running around quite a bit in our zone, Preds are controlling te majority of the play, looking like a loss but the team put up a great game.
Get up this morning and boom, a big third period and the win, I need to do this more often

I had been reading about these Johnny moments, where he makes you sit up and just go wow, I had mine last night. That move in the first period to blow past 'dirty hit' Volchencov was a thing of beauty, I am thrilled he is part of the flames.

A) Yes. He's too good not to heat up.
B) Unlikely. Gio or Brodie will be the Flames representative. But if we send three, add Gaudreau.

I know we all love to talk about Johnny, but let's talk about the debut for Ferland and Granlund getting his 2nd call up.

Both played really well, in fact, they both had a couple of scoring chances. Would have been amazing if Ferland got that toe drag shot in. It's too bad he got a hit to the face, but hopefully he is fine. Granlund does not look out of place at all. He picked up where he left off the last time he got here. No knock on Stajan, but I think many of us are going to forget about him while he recovers, because Granlund is without question NHL ready and will be a solid middle 6 center for the Flames.

I'd love to see a 3rd line of Ferland - Granlund - Jooris when they are getting more experience.

Wow just saw the game highlights for this... absolutely amazing stuff from Johnny.

But he won't be able to pull a move off like that against NHL players.

Couldn't watch the game, was at work. Upon watching replays wow, did Calgary ever get lucky to get Johnny. I figured he'd be good, but he's so much better than good. He's unbelievable. As a Flames fan over the past 5 years it's been tough; watching blue chips get traded away one after another in terrible deals, bad and boring coaching and bad management decisions. It's all kind of made up for by this kid, he really is unbelievably good. The way he controls the puck is unparalleled, his ceiling is just... I don't know what to say. How is he a Flame again? Elite level puck handling with lightning fast reflexes and world class vision, that doesn't sound like a Flame to me.

TJ Brodie has tied his goal output from last season already. Still amazed how he progressed and matured as a player over the last 2-3 seasons. From healthy scratch to top pairing defenseman within one and a half years.

Yeah don't know what is better, watching Johnny prove him wrong or looking at Healy's career .888 save pct.

Below average goalie, now a below average analyst judging world class talent.

There certainly should be. How can the refs not call something so blatant?

I expected the rest of the team would lay a lot of punishing hits on Volcehnkov after that cheap shot, but it didn't happen. Will someone remind me, why are we dressing Big Ern?

After the first month of the season in the books, Sportsclubstats projects the Flames to make the playoffs with a 63% chance.

So he can get in mutually-agree-to fights with other team's goon and then pat him on the back.

I thought the point of McGratton, Bollig, and Engelland were to protect the young guys. Other than Bollig, none of them have stepped up yet. If they're not going to play that role, may as well dress players who can bring some hockey skill to the table.

McGratton is completely useless on the ice, but I actually think that Engelland has played reasonably well for the Flames. He is certainly a better player than I was expecting.

12 games into his NHL hockey career with the Flames, is Johnny Gaudreau already the best player on the team?
