One of Brett Pollock or Nick Schneider - Oil Kings and Tigers play a tie-breaker game today. Since both Pollock and Schneider are under contract with the Flames, the loser will very likely join Stockton after this game (maybe a chance Pollock joins Calgary)

Huh, forgot about Schneider. What's the plan with him next season?

I mean, assuming that Ortio and a new goalie are with the big team, Gillies and Poulin are with the Heat and McDonald goes to the ECHL, what are Schneiders options? Return to Juniors? Or is he too old?

Schneider is young, think still 18. Dont have to worry about him for a while.

Schneider's contract can slide for one more season, so he'll be back in Medicine Hat next year.

Ah yes, turns 19 in July. So Juniors it is. Seems to have made slight progress in that whilst his numbers aren't great, he's doubled the number of games he's played and seems to have held steady. Not too surprising that his GAA is so high given the Tigers have an awful defensive record this season. From a selfish point of view, could the Flames ask for him to be traded to a team that isn't so bad defensively next season?

I should know better. I see we're playing the Rebels so without looking further down sureloss' post, I look up the WHL standings and see the Oil Kings and Tigers are tied and neither are named to the final 8th playoff spot. So I do some more research and find they are playing tonight to decide the final spot. A complete waste of time as surloss answers my question just by rolling my mouse.

I think maybe facing a lot of shots is good practise.

Saw the last Hitmen game vs Tigers a few games ago. Schneider came in for the last two periods and played amazing. Robbed several hitmen with highlight reel saves.

McDonald seems to be heating up nicely at the moment. Hopefully he has a strong run in the play offs and finishes the year on a high.

Oil Kings win the play-in game.

Let's bring Schneider to Calgary. There aren't enough goalies here.

I wonder if they'll get Schneider a start in Stockton?

So can a team sign any prospect to a ELC immediately after they go undrafted once?

I always thought they had to go undrafted twice unless they have a late birthday for some reason.

Dont know if the rules changed, but used to be that chl players had to be either 20 or play 4 yrs in junior before being allowd to play in minor pros

There is a loophole. If they are undrafted once and come to camp on a tryout a NHL team can sign them before they release the player (it is a bit more complicated than that as was in the Tkachev case and the Oilers).

Google how the Kings signed Martin Jones. They did the same thing the Flames did with Schneider

Not a Flames prospect, but hopefully he is one day, Stuart Skinner the goalie for the Lethbridge Hurricanes scored a goal the other night against the Medicine Hat Tigers.

Funny how high pitched and squeaky the announcer gets haha.

Anyways, Skinner is a 6'4 200lb 17 year old goalie who was the starter for the Hurricanes as a 15/16 year old.

He's not draft eligible until 2017, by then he will have had three full seasons starting in the WHL.

8.9b player is available to sign if undrafted in last entry draft &

ii) had played hockey in North America the prior season and was under age 20 at the time of the last Entry Draft, and signed an SPC which was signed and registered with the League between the conclusion of the Entry Draft and commencement of the Major Juniors season (except that if such Player had signed an NHL tryout form, which was signed and registered with the League during the aforesaid time period, then the deadline for signing and registering with the League an SPC with such try-out Club shall be the commencement of the NHL Season).

Once the player's CHL season is over, he can play in the AHL for the remainder of the season.

For Schneider, he'll still be 19 when the next season starts, so he can go to Stockton for the rest of this season, but he'll have to go back to Medicine Hat in the fall.

Is there going to be any broadcast for the Wheat Kings v Oil Kings game tonight?

Take it the Colts v Steelheads game will be on a network somewhere?
