Please save him for Edmonton. I wanted him ever since he was fired. He's pretty much a model GM in essence that he's proven that he can rebuild a team and take a team with young players to the next level.

I think he would totally mesh with Edwards. He is an impatient guy that wants to win now just like Edwards. Sutter had free reign over this team so the theory the GM is totally handcuffed by ownership is false. I do think Edwards says he wants a winner and he wants Jarome to stay but everything else is fair game.

In my opinion if Feaster is fired over the next few days unless Weisbroad gets promoted Burke gets the job

I suspect Sutter had free reign as long as he was wanting the same thing as the owners, he was and is a coach at heart and was always only interested in winning right now.

Burke is the best bet for Calgary. He builds teams that line up with what Calgary Flames teams used to be.

Toronto looks good now that they have a cranky coach.

Plus if my Flames Leaf parallel theory is true, the sooner we hire and then fire Burke the quicker the progression will be to a good team again.

Please NO... we already get rid of some cranky personnel in this team and we don't want to bring another one.

Brian Burke is so overrated as far as I am concerned.

Definitely not Burke. I don't know who else is available, but I would go batty listening to him talk greatly about himself.

I can't stand Feaster as it is about his "AHL Championship", his "Fedotenko trade", and how awesome Marty St. Louis is.

I guess I just really liked how Darryl was quiet in the media, didn't talk much, and would just surprise you with results. Too bad the pressure cooker got to him in the end, but I liked his style more. Burke reminds me of Feaster with the amount of talking they like to do, but Burke just seems more 'in your face'.

I think Burke is one of the better GMs... 2nd tier, at the very least... The top-tier guys like Lamorello don't seem to ever become available.

If the team decides to do the right thing approaching this deadline, I'd much rather have Burke in charge, as opposed to Feaster...though I never liked the Feaster hire to begin with.

I don't believe Burke wants to live anywhere West. He's happy in Toronto where his kids go to school and it's close to Boston where he's from.

Other than the Kessel trade and his ability to talk too much in the media, he really isn't a bad GM. He wins trades and loses trades. You can debate the Kessel trade forever, but they made that trade thinking those first round picks would be in the 20-30 range, which would make it a steal for the Leafs.

Also Burke isn't afraid to cash in at the trade deadline, call it a lost season, and dump off FA's and vets.

Look at some of his trades in the last few years:

2009
Stempniak for Steen and Colaiacovo
2nd for Antropov
2nd for Dominic Moore
signed Bozak out of college

2009-10
Primeau + 2nd for Stralman, Stuart, 7th
Kessel trade
Phaneuf trade
Giguere for Toskala, Blake

2010-11
2nd for Jimmy Hayes
Lupul, Gardiner, 4th for Beauchemin
1st, 3rd for Versteeg
1st, 2nd, Colbourne for Kaberle
signed Schrivens out of college

2011-12
JVR for Schenn

He certainly isn't afraid to make moves. I doubt he comes here though because ownership wouldn't give him 100% control.

Yes, BB for GM and get Pat Quinn in to coach while we're at it.

He has come out and said he wants to be a GM again. I think Calgary and team where he would have all the financial support he would need and an owner that wants to win as badly and quickly as he does is ideal for him

Maybe the Flames owners told Burke to go to Anahiem to talk with Getzlaf, put the bug in his ear about going to Calgary this offseason. Now Calgary will make him the GM, bringing us Getzlaf....

Also Burke would be terrible. The guy's obnoxious, made the biggest blunder any GM's made in years, and he's no more likely to do any different then Feaster. Lateral move at best, step back at worst.

Other than the Kessil trade, Burke did a good job in Toronto. I was surprised when he was fired. I'd be OK with it.
