"Darrell's House Parts 1 and 2" (Zach Galifianakis, Vanessa Bayer, Kenan Thompson, Jon Hamm) I can honestly say that I've never seen anything quite like this attempted on "SNL" before. Sure, there are plenty of sketches that have had reprises throughout the show, but never anything quite like this -- "Z-Shirt" came close, but the first sketch really was independent of the funeral, payoff sketch -- never anything that the entire payoff of the sketch is dependent on watching the second part. I mean, the first part is close to unwatchable, but the second part payoff makes the whole thing brilliant.

Neither of those two are great hosts to end the year.

Affleck has never been all that funny, and Wig is going to roll out all of her same old terrible characters on some nostalgia kicks.

What they are singing may not be funny, but that is impressive improv. Wiig has to follow where Fred is going very quickly.

I think Kristen Wig is good looking but annoying as hell and a unfunny female version of Will Farrell.

That's exactly how I feel. I think she has tons of potential, but her characters are just awful. Paired with a good writing team, she could be great.

Last year, we watched Wiig perform all of her best-known characters one last time. When I first heard that Wiig was coming back already to host, my hope was that she would have integrated herself into what this version of the cast has been doing. Basically: keep her old characters retired and show us some new things. Nope. Instead, we saw five of Wiig's recurring characters. Honestly, this is like grading a greatest hits album of a band whose deep cuts you prefer. (I don't really blame Wiig for this. I can see the writers having "How do I get my stuff on the air?" flashbacks from last season, resulting in the words "Target Lady" being yelled at the pitch meeting.) Well, whatever. Onward to a very recurring and uninspired Scorecard ...

I agree with the review. Too many old characters. We've seen that kind of monologue too many times. Vampire Weekend were great. We didn't see Wiig's best character - Kathy Lee Gifford. Never liked the Target character. Lawrence Welk character is good, but been done enough. Californians is only funny to watch them break.

Moynihan will be the male star of the show when Hader and Sudeikis are gone.

Maybe I am missing something but I find The Californians to be terrible. Show got a solid Meh from me. Hopefully they have a massive amount of cameos next week to help Affleck out.
