You're correct in a large sense, but Canadian Forwards are a lot different that 2nd tier team goalies. One group is surrounded by incredible talent. The other is getting shelled.
I don't agree on signing him, but someone will give him a look in a training camp, and he earned it.

Sure - it was just a broad example that this tournament produces unlikely heroes and to use one of 50 contracts on a player just because he had a big game or two would be incredibly shortsighted.
A lot of goalies actually thrive on huge workload and play better when facing 40+ shots in a game they know they have zero chance of winning. There's a real danger in putting huge stock in those performances.
One thing to give him a look in training camp. But the OP said he doesn't care about anything other than the Flames signing Godla to a contract which is crazy.

It was tongue in cheek after Godla's great performance fergawdsake. But I bet he gets a PTO from someone.

ISS January top 30:
http://www.isshockey.com/iss-top-30-released-january-2/
I think they let the WJC get to them.
Crouse at #3!
Rantanen at #5!
Carlo at #17!
Provorov is higher than Kylington. Werenski is higher than Strome and Marner
don't even have Sprong or J. Roy in their top 30 anymore

The WJC can be good and bad. Good that a lot of very good players can drop down a few rankings (due to some risers), but bad because the risers could be picks that you wanted.
For example, I really liked Rantanen, was in our range, now he is proving that he is a top 10 pick as of now. I think the one that is most exciting the be dropping and one the Flames should really draft is Kylington.
Surprised Sprong doesn't even make the top 30 anymore.

Wow, didn't even notice that either.
That bothers me, because I don't see either landing in the 37th-47th range, where I think our 2nd round pick will be.

Ineteresting list, the WJC had obviously a huge impact on it. I'd be shocked if Roy wasn't a top 20 pick though.

Crouse was very good for Canada. Not surprised to see him up high. Very rare for an undrafted guy to play effectively for Canada unless they are seen as top guy in the draft.

The WJC is just a few games. I know it's best on best, but I think it's possible to put too much stock in it.

No doubt about that. I think it's safe to say though that the first 2 rounds are going to be stacked since we are seeing some new faces in the first round.

I'm fine with Hanifin dropping to almost reachable range. Maybe he can pull a Seth Jones and drop 3 or so more spots on draft day (if the Flames fall out of the race.)

For me, this looks like a no lose draft for the Flames. Lets be honest, we'll likely be picking in the 8th-14th range in this draft and if we do, there are a number of quality looking RW/D prospects for us to choose from and if we decide that another positioned prospect is the BPA, there are a number of excellent looking centres to choose from.
Really excited for this draft regardless of whether we make the play offs or not.

Cam Fowler. I still can't believe he was ranked 4th and fell to 12. Can't see that happening with Hanifin though.

It's possible, especially if Buffalo/Arizona/New Jersey/Philly are all picking within 3-7. They all need a forward more than a defenseman.

Nobody needs defence more than Philly. Not even Edmonton.

They need roster defenseman, not another defenseman prospect. There's a difference.

Yeah Philly has a pretty decent stable of defencemen prospects.
Morin, Gostisbehere, and Sanheim are projected to be better than anything the Flames have in their system.

Hanifin is now 4th and Seth Jones went from basically a tie for first with Mackinnon to 4th because I guess flashy forwards were desired in Fla and TB. So there's hope (not much) for Hanifin if other teams make similar (IMO) errors.
I agree Philly needs D. But they've never been a patient team and the time for developing even a Hanifin might be too much for them.

Philly spent their last 2 firsts on D and also have Gostisbehere and Hägg in the pipeline. They'll surely draft a forward this time IMO ... a guy like Crouse would be perfect for them.
