Oilers playing their best against the Bears tonight. List two in a row and if I'm not mistaken, they've lost the vast majority of these games. McTavish not happy about that

Can't deny, it's a little amusing.
Indeed it is hockey. I suppose that's reason enough? Although I wouldn't consider the Dinos the best measuring stick for our prospects.

I actually think that it is good to see prospects play against somewhat older (bigger) players even if they aren't as skilled as the prospect camp players. Plus this is a team that has practiced and played together so a much bigger challenge.
I do understand the disappointment in not seeing either of our top prospects playing but still plenty of interesting names there such as Sieloff, Wolf, Klimchuk, and Arnold.

One of the top CIS teams last year and made up primarily of former junior players and minor pros.
It's actually pretty good hockey, and pretty good match-up for 18-22 year old first/second year prospects.

Last year they played their "top" guys though. It was reasonable to expect it for this year as well.
Looking through the pictures I took last year of the Flames vs Dino's I can see on the bench: Monahan, Ferland, Baertschi, Poirier, Hanowski, Granlund, Reinhart and Ortio for the "big names"
The "second tier" names I can see are Kanzig, Ramage, Davies, Jooris, Culkin, Elson
However, there were a couple incidents during the game that might have changed their mind about sending guys again. Baertschi took a decent crosscheck to the face and sat for a couple shifts while leaking. Granlund was run as well and both Ferland and Kanzig looked like they wanted to pummel the Dino player but couldn't. The Dino's were playing a really dirty game and since they agreed on a "no fighting" rule pre-game, things got dirty with stick work.

You'll probably have to do a simple 3 question survey (age group, gender, reason for watching) before it lets you into the stream.

But if you think about it, with the close call with Johnny and the minor tweak for Bennett, why would they risk those players playing in a game against non NHL opposition, on the eve of training camp? Makes no sense. Especially with the way last year's game went. Absolutely no need to risk any of the big 4 (Gaudreau, Bennett, Granlund, Ferland) getting hurt or even tweaking something. These kids being at 100% is vital as they will be a fixture throughout camp.

I don't care who is dressing for the Flames, I'm looking forward to evaluating everyone on the Flames. I bet most people attending here are in the same boat.
Kind of an odd and rude comment IMO.

The Dinos could win this one. Not surprising to see Gaudreau and Bennett not playing. Playing 4 games in 6 nights is a bit much this early on and Gaudreau and Bennett have played a lot of minutes in the previous games.

The Dinos didn't look as structured in their pre-season game against Mount Royal as they did at the same time last season (4-2 loss).
I understand why Gaudreau and Bennett would be sitting, but it doesn't make it any less disappointing. Definitely still players I want to see, but it would have been even better to also see those two in the line-up.

The Flames are deep in forward prospects, so even if the best 3 or 4 guys aren't out there, there's still a lot to watch.

Thankfully Gaudreau and Bennet aren't playing. Don't need some scrub who wants to make a name for himself with no risk of consequences try and injure them.
