Maybe DEN's maintenance aren't locking things down.

A United 777 had a pretty spectacular engine failure in 2021. Different airline though, this latest event was Southwest. Regardless, if it was a latch then it should have been caught by the flight crew too.

Some of the walkarounds I see crews doing at YYC are terrible. Some are actually checking things and a staggering number are just going for a stroll around the airplane and not actually looking at anything. It wouldn't surprise me at all for a latch to not be noticed by crew on a walkaround.

That seems like a movie to see a commercial airliner rolling through 3/4ft of water

Whenever I see stuff like this I wonder how those gawdy palm islands are handling things

Of WestJet's entire fleet, I'd probably feel safest on their 787 if anything.

Late flare? I saw a clip of the subsequent landing and they floated the landing, too.

Carrier landing procedure, they just forgot to drop the tail hook to catch a wire...

Had a good chuckle at 1:02 when the last fire suppression truck shows up, just a little too eager. Blows his load before he arrives, then kinda flails around with the nozzle spraying all over the place.

Transiting through SFO is a bit of a nightmare. They are paving one of the runways and as a result are only using one for landing. Plan on some delays if you are using that airport. Probably better off going through DEN or SLC depending on your destination.
