If somehow in all of this Paul Ryan could be destroyed...that would be wonderful.
Given the amount of crap Pence is likely to be complicit in with Flynn, it might be President Hatch and VP Tillerson (Assuming nothing is found on Tillerson and the whole Exxon drilling in Russia deal).
Congressional Republicans kill a motion to bring a special independent commission investigation into Trump's Russia ties. Notably only two Republicans supported the measure but the rest put party over country. McCain, such a Maverick.
Wtf? McCain is a senator.

Man the whole lot of them could be going to prison. Someone commented yesterday on an MSNBC youtube video that Hatch will be the 46th, before that WAPO article dropped. Also said that there is like 70 people being indicted. #OrangeJulius

Trump, Pence, and Paul Ryan are all going down in this; there are already sealed indictments for them and about 70 other conspirators. Orrin Hatch will be the 46th POTUS. You heard it here 1st.

I do not post very much in this forum, in fact I should post more, I could make the best posts in my opinion, which may not be the best posts in other peoples opinion.....oh well.
Just wanted to tell everyone that I read this forum every day for my up to date information as to all that is Trumpuss. I think this board does such a phenomenal job of keeping all of this Alice In Wonderland craziness up to date.
Who knew my faourite hockey teams forum was the only forum I needed to keep updated on to be quite honest what is really interesting me right now in the world.
Do I sound crazy yet? Sure I do, but at least I can be entertaining nonetheless.
Keep it up CP.

Justice Department to appoint special counsel to take over Russia probe
Mueller will take command of the prosecutors and FBI agents who are working on the far reaching Russia investigation, which spans multiple FBI field offices on both coasts.
Mueller led the FBI for 12 years under Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama.

A flood is coming that will shape the future of our Republic in ways no one can predict. Except that the speed with which this has all happened, just over a hundred days into President Donald Trump's dumpster fire of an administration, means it was all very predictable. And no one who played a role in normalizing this President should be allowed to forget it.
We have news that the Department of Justice, under Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, will appoint a Special Counsel to investigate the Russia interference scandal. Apparently the President was only given a 30 minute heads up, and it came while he was interviewing new heads for the FBI. The Special Counsel will be former FBI Director Robert Mueller. These types of investigations tend to stir up more dirt than anyone thought was there. We will see if that happens now.
The stock market plummets. The White House staff is in chaos. The chorus of Republicans suddenly eager to be on the right side of history gets louder. Most of the time Washington moves in slow motion - except when it doesn't. And this moment is one of those times. We are living in a news cycle that can be measured in nanoseconds.
And amidst the news, another blockbuster report by the Washington Post. House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy apparently said last June that he thought Putin pays Trump. At which point Speaker of the House Paul Ryan, who was also there, stopped the conversation and swore those who were present to secrecy. When the Post asked about the incident, spokesmen for both representatives denied the story on the record. When they were informed that the Post reporters had heard a tape of the exchange, they changed their tune - saying it was a joke.
What all this makes clear is that the concerns which now threaten the integrity of our government were well known and played for cynical theater. Well the curtain may be coming down on this act of this tragedy. New actors wait to take the stage for a drama for which the script is yet to be written.

Special counsel works well for Republicans since despite being a bit more distanced from the executive, it's still private. It's not like the other investigations which feature public hearings or big news when someone gets subpoenaed. Unless the guy pulls a Comey the result will either be charges, or silence. If the investigation finds some really bad stuff but the evidence is beyond reach in Russia, then no one would ever know (unless it's leaked).
So this gives Republicans a bit of space since they can answer many questions just by saying "special counsel" for a few years.
Unless Trump fires the special counsel.

wow... if this can be proven, this is truly a bombshell...
speaking of which, the DOJ appointing a special counsel is huge...!
Surely Trump won't be brazen enough to fire this special prosecutor as well.

The best part of Trumpty Dumpty falling down is that we haven't even gotten into the potential money laundering for the mafia through his AC casinos. This still has even more potential layers to go. Orville Redenbacher shares should go through the roof.

Like Kenneth Star before him, I believe that Mueller will have broad discretionary powers and that the investigation might, as you suggest, lead to other corruption that isn't primarily linked with Russia.
If Trump has been guilty of any crimes or corruption in the past, this could be very very interesting.

Mueller and Kenneth Star are very different. Ken Starr was the Office of the Independent Council, something that existed under a law called the Ethics in Government Act. The OIC was outside the normal chain of command, being appointed by a three-judge panel.
The EGA had a sunset provision which expired in 1999, the Office no longer exists.
Mueller is a Special Council - which is technically within the Department of Justice, appointed by the Acting Attorney General.

As i understand it, the special counsel will still have wide discretion and subpoena power... that's what Toobin suggested on CNN at least
Mueller is more of a professional than Starr was, so there is a chance that he stays locked into a narrow lane... but i think he will follow the evidence if there is the appearance of corruption
