Once the playoffs start, I could see myself pulling for the Pens...but not before that.

Part of me wants him to win a cup.
A bigger part of me wants him to win that cup next year, and have the Pens tank the rest of the season.

I've always liked Pittsburgh except for a few players, quality team, coach, and organization. Having the best player in the world doesn't hurt, Crosby is a treat to watch I can't believe there were people saying the game would not suffer if Crosby never came back from injury.
Is Iggy going to actually play with Crosby though? Everyone assumes so, but to me that's a bit of a slap in the face to Crosby's linemates.

FU pens! Your goaltending smells of a first round upset!
Watch out for your achilles in practice Iggy!

I'd venture to say you're prob in the minority. However, I'm pretty conflicted as I want Jarome to win a cup but that success directly effects the draft position the Flames will receive.
Is there a happy medium? ummm NO.

I am with you, hope they get knocked out first round, then signs with another team in the off season and wins then...
22nd pick is better then the 30th pick in my opinion. Considering we didn't get a top prospect the 1st rounder is the only redeeming part of the trade.

I know what you are saying, but:
There's a one in a million chance that Flames can put together an epic offseason, and turn this thing into a contender. (yeah right).
But that's what I'm cheering for. I don't want Iggy to win the cup next year. I want the Flames to win the cup.

Seriously? The difference between picks in the 25-30 range is so minimal that this is not even an issue. All GM's have different lists. Count this poster in as someone who want the 30th pick overall. Go get that cup Iggy

well the teams that usually load up the most at the trade deadline crash and burn the hardest in the playoffs
i look at it as win-win. if the Penguins get bounced in the first round, the return is way better. if they win the cup, then i finally get to see Iginla lift it. either way i'm happy

Then again, I'm not prone to be sentimental...and I just see hockey players as people who have made millions, so I rarely feel sorry for them if the don't win Cups, etc.

Not a Flames fan, but I'd think 1st round exit should be on many fans wish list.
I was however a big Flames fan and Iggy fan last night when I heard they trolled the Bruins.

25th overall, 30th overall... no real big difference to me.
Go Iggy. Get your Cup. I'll take a few spots down in a late round draft pick to see Iginla win a cup any day.

Pens likely win the Presidents trophy and would secure at worst the 26th pick. I rather Iggy win a cup than pick 4 spots higher in the draft.
If they tank out the rest of the way (not happening) that is a different story

Just for clarification's sake. If the Penguins do get bounced in the first round, how does the ordering for the draft work? is it based on regular season results with the cup finalists picking 29-30?

regular season standings don't count in the draft order for playoff teams do they? they changed it years ago so that they drafted in the order they were eliminated from the playoffs

I am with you,
Just like the saying goes, you never know what you lost and how much they meant to the team until their gone...
I am eagerly waiting for Pen's to lose in the first round, kind of really hoping actually, and iggy signs with the flames again lol

I was like the OP, untill I realized I have a genuine reason, besides the ABC (anybody but the cancuks) motto, to cheer for another team.
I will be exploiting it.
