For as bumbling as the UCP is, I'm sure there is a legitimate reason to be there. The Last of Us is a good as reason as I can think of to attend. That show put Alberta on the film map (again).

Some of the funniest arguments about government expenses are usually from the right, which, when finding out hotel costs for a trip, are often "WHATS WRONG WITH A ROADSIDE MOTEL? WHY CAN'T THEY EAT AT 7-11? CORRUPT". Some people literally want these government reps to wallow in their own filth when they leave the province. And if a left-wing politician does it, it's communism in the highest order.

I mean yeah, there's nuance and limits, but there's also reasonable expenses just like any private corporation does for their travelling employees.

It's a good thing voters believed her tax cut promise. This is all the NDP's fault. Thanks NDP.

If the NDP hadn't raised taxes, the UCP wouldn't have promised to lower them and therefore not have had a promise to break when they didn't.

Ipso facto, NDP's fault.

Side note at the end, Nenshi sitting out of the Jeremy and Nenshi Fridays as he considers NDP run. To me this indicates a pretty high level of seriousness on doing it.

The whole 'we have no money' schtick is also very convenient knowing how many new public sector contracts need redone this year.

The Breakdown

So…

Alberta’s off brand Ted Kaczynski and leader of “Take Back Alberta” revealed last night that he remains in discussion with Smith and that he’s planning two rallies to “thank” Smith for her anti-choice, anti-LGBTQ2S+ policies…

It sounds like it is an application. Sounds like the coal company is trying to pull a fast one by putting forward a new application saying that it is related an advanced coal project. That loop hole is the only way an application can be submitted. Sounds like it is up to debate whether that region would be considered an advanced coal project.

I also hope they quash the application and this is just a hailmary attempt by the Australian coal company.

I guess nvm. I found a link to a story where they they said there will be a hearing. That is disappointing.

Yeah I wasnt clear, the news story is from Nov which summarized where things stood. AER announced today about actually giving them a new hearing.
Beyond me how they legitimately think this would go ahead. Theres literally no water for them to use, and mining would use a lot.

Just think of how spectacularly contaminated the water would be. It supplies Edmonton right? Teach those NDP voters a lesson!/s

The timing is pretty great, as the provincial government is starting drought conditions policy for the entire Oldman river watershed, which is at 1/3 of it's normal level. It's going to be a very rough year.

The Grassy project would take about 3/4 of what's left, immediately at the headwater, if it was in operation. It is a very stupid project.

Instead of just farmers and ranchers suffering, towns and cities are now being heavily effected by drought. Pincher Creek is trucking in water right now.

Haha... Alberta gonna Alberta

https://globalnews.ca/news/10316372/...armacare-plan/

If Alberta asks for the per capita funding in cash, I hope the federal govt tells them to shove it.

spokesperson from Adrianna LaGrange’s office said Alberta was not consulted on the national pharmacare plan
Lagrange is a psychopath, fully capable of hurting people without remorse. She did it to education and now she is in health. Her purpose is to destroy so that the UCP can rebuild as they see fit.

Asking for funds from the feds would just end up in the general budget, and albertans would get nothing.

Alberta will be the only Province without pharmacare, due to the TBA evangelical base, trying to control women's contraception, and people with diabetes and other ailments are just an unfortunate casualty.

They are so full of hate, it makes me embarrassed to have them represent me.

May I remind you that the alternative was a party that made the unforgivable sin of requiring paid, non-family agriculture labourers to have workers compensation coverage?

And imagine if we still had to live under those oppressive income tax rates.
