Mike Williamson Hitman coach pays the price for a very disappointing playoff result. I thought he's been a good coach over the last few years. However it's hard to find another cause for what was a stunning turnabout in play for the team against the Ice. It just seemed the team was not ready for playoff hockey and that the things that made them successful in the regular season were no where to be seen.

Lots of speculation that he lost the room, there were several incidents this year where the team had to "discipline" players for breaking certain rules. Despite the very good regular season, when you watched them play, you could tell something was just not right, particularly in their defensive zone.

I kinda knew shaw was going to go with the edmonton series but still really poor call. Two best teams squaring off in one conference final in Portland-Kelowna, on hockey quality that should have been a no brainer. And it's not like Edmonton supports any of its teams beside the Oilers and Eskies in any more than a half-assed fashion anyway so while it's a big market, who is watching it in Edmonton anyway. But I guess it's just Kelowna fans in Canada who would be really into the west final despite the better teams.

Good to hear, will be down there on friday myself, hopefully the series lives up to billing. Wishing I could catch the away games... oh well, maybe if they catch a couple breaks I'll get to watch the games in Edmonton in the finals.
Nothing says we're behind our team like the big Oilers logo at centre ice or the threat of a shootout if you run too long... maybe with the Oilers done they'll take centre stage and I guess at least playing on that logo is a constant reminder for the kids what can happen if you start to try to coast on talent. Yes I will take a shot at the Oilers any chance I get

Well these two games are going better than expected so far.
I guess I knew Edmonton would win but nice to see them lay an ass kicking on the Tiggers.

Tigers just finished a hard fought 7 game series against Kootenay, they are running on fumes against a Oil Kings squad who are fully rested. Game 2 should be much more competitive.

That was fun, great start to the series, could use some better reffing the rest of the way.
Game 1 in both series only makes shaw's call to broadcast the oil kings/tigers look even worse.

Kelowna only played 20 minutes and still were in it until late.
Going to be a long series but not worried. This loss was more about what Kelowna stopped doing, than anything Portland did. Lousy officiating too, hopefully it improves.

Ya the second and third were real ugly. The exact opposite of game one, each team owned a 1st and got run over for the rest of the game.
Best of 5 now.

I believe Warrener mentioned it on the fan last week but from a few people that I know who have connections to the Hitmen, the first name starting to be mentioned more frequently as the next head coach of the Hitmen is Tim Hunter.

True, but also the cost effective one.
I really hope Kelowna beats Portland. Nothing against the Winterhawks, but Edmonton-Portland is just boring now.

Big comeback for Portland tonight. Good thing Jordan Cooke showed up for Kelowna or else this was a blow out.

Yeah Cooke was solid. Portland has too much firepower.
