Default LF: Overnight horse camp near Calgary for Kids - Non Christian

i'm having difficulty finding a non-Christian oriented camp to send my daughter to next summer that focuses on care and riding horses.

Sending her to a christian camp isn't out of the question We'd just prefer one that isn't Christian based. My wife and I are both non -religious although I was raised Catholic.

Does anyone have any recommendations for such a camp? There are tons of Christian based camps but I can't find just a horse camp without a daily walk with god.

Thanks in advance.

Look around Turner Valley, Black Diamond, Millarville?

Camp Chief Hector was great growing up. As a new applicant you have to be very quick to call the day that applications open if I recall correctly. Preference used to be given to returning campers.

My Google search brought this one to the forefront? I don't see any religious references... unless I missed reading it somewhere.

Chief Hector would be my go to as well, but I'm not sure if they offer overnight horse trips anymore. They did when I attended back in the mid-nineties. However my daughter went this year (7yo) and I'm pretty sure I remember them saying the overnight horse trips aren't done anymore due to insurance reasons.

You too good for a field and a tent and then catch your own horse? Bourgeois!

I've done the same search (though my kids aren't old enough yet) and came up with Camp Warwa a couple of years ago. Not sure if it's still around.

Edit: It is, and they have horse programs.

Griffin Valley Ranch is great. I went there a lot and don't remember it being religious.

+1 more for Griffin Valley. Great place, good camps, and cheap rates if you want to go take out a horse any other time to go roam (and not a terrible trail ride) once you're trained up.

This camp is owned by my Aunt and Uncle. The ranch was homesteaded by my Great Grandfather in 1903. It is located not far from Millarville. My brother and I used to attend a week long camp every year when we were young and it was great, definitely not religious in origin.

I'm not sure if they do overnights but can check. Macdaddy, im me if you like and I can see if I can sort something out for you.

Thanks for all the suggestions, she really wants to go to an overnight week long camp. Griffen Valley and Laughing Horse both look good but it's similar to what she has done with horsing around camp.

My wifes parents met at camp Chief hector. Her dad was a lead councilor and her mom was in kitchen (later councilor).

Wife and sisters all went there. Its something we're looking at but like it was mentioned they don't do the horse trips any longer
