It's such a pleasure to hear Doc Emrick call a game. He's as good as there is.

If I heard right on the radio yesterday..

The pens were 1-8 in game 1's against the Caps, but 8-1 in series against the caps.

Maybe this year the script finally flips.

Was at the game yesterday. Good God, the atmosphere at Verizon Center was electric. However, that Bonino goal just completely took the air out of the building.

Aside from a very poor start I thought the Capitals played an excellent game. I think if they play like they did last night they should win the series. Fleury was incredible—especially in the third.

That scramble at the end of the game on it's own was amazing that a puck didn't get by him but the puck got free a couple of times and the Caps had two point blank shots (one from each side of the net) and those saves Fleury made were extremely clutch.

Caps had over double the shot attempts as the pens.

That was nothing short of astonishing. I actually skipped back on that sequence a couple of times and rewatched it because it seemed so inconceivable that the puck did not go in at least once.

These playoffs are bolstering my already high opinion of MA Fleury as a good option for the Flames in goal.

I thought the Caps were the better team for 3/4 of the game. I do want the Caps to win, but this series is a treat to watch regardless of the winner.

I bet the winner of this series wins the Cup. The top two lines for these teams are unbelievable.

Should Washington blow it up? Doesn't seem like this core has what it takes...

They have to go through major overhaul anyways after this season with all the UFAs. No doubt they'll retool with the talent that still exists.

MAF is putting up solid numbers playing on a TOP 3 team. He is also desperate thinking he still has a shot to force them to trade Murray.

Very productive scouting game for the Flames.

Holtby: #1 Choke under playoff pressure goalie.
Grubauer: Clear #2 backup quality goalie. CANT step up when given the chance to be the man.
Fleury: Penguins artificially inflate trade value by playing him against TWO of the leagues worst statistical playoff teams. Any team will regret giving more than a 3rd round pick for him.
Murray: Flames clear choice for #1 goalie of the future. Penguins are resting him until the ECF when they play a team capable of beating them.

Murray never was injured. They knew to get the right value for either goalie teams needed him to step up. There was no risk playing columbus. They wont put Murray in unless they fall behind in a series.

Why? Not every team will ever have the right balance of players to be Stanley Cup contenders.

Washington could go 82-0-0 and still wouldnt make it past the first 2 rounds.

They have tried different goalies, defencemen, forwards and even coaches. Result is always the same.

Ovechkin and Backstrom lack the character and natural drive to lead any team to a championship.

The key is finding the face of your franchise that can be the glue to hold it all together.

They will not blow it up.

They will watch Alzner and Oshie leave in free agency.

They will acquire Kovalchuk from NJ.

They will keep playing with the little pieces until one day Ovie retires.
