Make people think that they had something to do with the decision.

Credit is due to the WRP here for acknowledging and hearing the concerns from the design community.
It was still a cheap publicity stunt in the first place, but it appears they learned something from it.

The joys of being an opposition party, they usually have to rely on cheap publicity stunts because only government can spend our tax dollars on expensive publicity stunts.

I can't recall if they had designs ready to go before Stelmach pulled the idea off the table a few years back, but at the time, it was made clear that there were specialty plates as part of the plan. Also, I thought the plan there was to have Alberta's "Strong and Free" slogan on the plate, which would still be great as opposed to a website address. It's no "Live Free or Die" like New Hampshire, but a website address is weak.
I can only imagine that's the same plan now for custom plates; Stamps, Flames, the loser teams from Edmonton, as well as select other organizations. I am sure those plans are in place, but likely not elaborated on until sometime now after the vote is done so as not to distract people from the main plate vote.

Oh yes, poor Wildrose. It was a stupid idea but let's defend it and explain why they had no choice but to do it because it's politics. Strange how the other opposition parties were able to make comments against it and leave it at that.

It turns out that 3M hired Rod Love to lobby the govt for these license plate changes in the first place.

More news that isn't news. You could tie basically every major gov't contract to a lobbyist. Making 3M out to be BIG LOBBY CO AMERICA is pretty pointless.
Pick the good design, adopt it and lets be done with it already. And for god's sake, redesign the teenage hearthrob collage that is the support our troops plate.

Awesome.
I know it's a petty issue. But I'm freaking thrilled with this announcement. Maybe Prentice is playing me like a fiddle, but this is exactly what I wanted to see.

They will work with Police and apply any coatings etc to existing plates to increase reflectivity.

Bad decision, but hard to blame Prentice for taking the easy way out.

New thread title needed.
Alberta PCs ditch other Alberta PCs ditching of 'Wild Rose Country' slogan on new licence plates.

That was a clever press conference "I'd like to announce the design of our new license plate...here it is, our new license plate...not a priority, moving on"
Great deadpan delivery, smart political move:

Veteran plates are still an option but additional specialty plates for sports teams and such are not going to happen anytime soon.

Too long. The software has a character limit of 85 on thread titles. That one is 96.
