Why would that defeat the purpose? The poster then may have to deal with things like:
a) Owning up to the action(s) that got them banned in the first place, including making apologies
b) Not hiding behind any veils of anonymity
c) Having a spotlight placed on them for their future behavior (which they have earned by being banned in the first place)
Which would actually be a pretty damned good litmus test to see if they have actually changed their behavior and deserve to continue posting here.
D) Being jumped on after every post
E) ganged up on by CP hyena's like MMF and his "Mr. Yamamoto" hypeman Flameswin searching out thanks after every reference to a posters past handle.
F) Irrelevant and unessesary thread derailing, focusing on poster's past tendencies.
Yes, plenty of reasons to continue that witch hunt.

Taking personal shots at individual posters doesn't help the discussion at hand.
It looks like there are fewer returning posters today than there was a short while ago.
It's returning users that make this site somewhat interesting. The real problem are some of the long time users that harass and label people trolls and get them banned as we see here a lot.
DionP lost interest in posting here and gave me this account after I told him what happened last week. Think about it, he signed up in 2009.
MOTB
This should go well.
I am a returning poster.
The best thing to do, if you really want to stay is re-assess how you inter-act on here. There are lots of different opinions, and for he most part different opinions are accepted, the exception generally is when the differing opinions are discriminatory (and rightly so).

Is part of through-ing people of the trail bad spelling with un-necessary commas?
