The media loves to bait Tortorella and he seems to love to get baited.
I'm not big on when coaches use the other goaltender as the only reason they lost - I just think it's lazy and lets your guys off.
Normally i would agree CalgAri, but i think his assessment was accurate and deserved why they lost.
Kipper came up big in all three periods and had some great saves. In a game that close he was the difference. I don't think there was one aspect of the rangers game that wasn't good.
Their D played great, their goalie kept them in it, their PK was good, their PP had a ton of chances. They were creating turnovers, skating hard.
Kipper was the difference, def. not a poor effort by NYR they came to play just couldn't finish.

Neither. It's a lack of smart play. Jokinen has been best this year on the third line - mainly because his linemates forced him into better work ethic - though that has been one of his strengths - and because he stopped trying to be a setup man.
I just want to know if Marc Giordano had a great experience?

Picking Sutter in the 6th round is bad optics.
Bingo's response, "If you get an NHL player that good in the 6th round, I don't care if he's related to Adolph Hilter". Gold!

Man, Jokinen seems to be struggling. He's got to start relaxing and just play his game. On that 5-3 powerplay, he must messed up a few times losing the puck. Then there is one where he could score on an open net...mind you it was a bad angle but still a good goal scorer can hit that open net.
I am just glad that most of the Flames players are starting to get back in form especially Iggy, Regehr, Phaneuf and Kipper. I hope Olli's slump ends soon.
I would like to see jokinen play with bourque, another guy that can steam down the wing and make a play. Any possibility of Bourque Jokinen Iginla? I think it would work
Jokinen deserves some credit on Iginla's goal as he got them in the zone with a nice pass and then went hard to the net. He took the defence with him and created room for Iginla to get the puck.
He did struggle at times, especially on the power play, but it"s only a matter of time. He is doing a lot of things right, he just seems to be squeezing his stick out there.

Yeah but I'd think that because it influenced the game it would somewhat cool down the post game excitement. It was a good game, great effort, no denying that but let's keep in mind Rangers were shorthanded. How many people would draw conclusion from a Flames loss where Jokinen and Langkow would both leave the game injured?

As others have said, why break up our best line? Langkow's line is playing great and showing chemistry while Iginla seems to have hit his stride and we are winning games. I don't think we should mess with the Langkow line.
One aspect I don't think gets mentioned enough is how much better Phaneuf is this season defensively.
He's not looking for the massive hit every shift, not looking to be the offensive hero.........he's playing a much more controlled game. Kudos to Brent Sutter, as well as Regehr for being a mentor for him and a calming influence.
He's quieter on the hilites on TSN and the like, but IMO he's a better all-around d-man. I think we kind of lose sight that his game has evolved, and improved.
I think it's much easier for the players when they have a system to fall back on. They're acting instinctively and they're told exactly where they should be on the ice rather than figuring it out on the fly.
The team just looks so much more organized under Sutter. You can tell that there's a game plan, and they're sticking to it.

Might as well lock the thread, boys. We can't be happy with the win because Flame of Liberty said so.
The conclusion most people are drawing is that we got two points. I fail to see how the Rangers injuries change this fact.

I think he's referring to the fact that if the shoe was on the other foot and Calgary was missing two key players, we'd be excusing the loss because of this.
And that in a post game thread, where we are here to discuss the game and a major topic such as two star player injuries are not discussed seems odd, and I agree.
I found the game a little boring, but I'm happy the team won.

So, can we all agree that Kippers "decline" was due to Keenan? Guy has been great in every season with every other coach other then Iron Mike.
No. IMO Kipper completely misplayed that 2-on-1. If Moss didn't turn it into a 2-on-2 at the last possible moment and bail him out it's a 2-2 game, and who knows what happens from there. You can't come out that far to challenge the shooter when it leaves the net empty for the other guy. Kipper needs to hedge for the dangerous man, and he doesn't. I know the defender is supposed to take away the pass, but even if he does everything right there's a good chance the pass can get through, in which case Kipper needs to be in a position where he can make the save. In the St. Louis game (read: fresh eyes) their commentator was saying that Kipper gets off his angles, and that has nothing to do with Keenan. Keep in mind too that Kipper has a new goalie coach this year. It's obvious that Marcoux couldn't turn him around, maybe McLennan deserves some credit for his (partial) resurgence?
