Stephen Daldry, director of Billy Elliott, The Hours, The Reader and episodes of the Crown is set to direct a standalone Obi Wan Kenobi film.

No script yet. Early in development.

I like Ewan almost as much as Louis CK. If he's involved I'm excited.

If there is to be an Obi Wan Kenobi movie starring Ewan McGregor I demand there be at least 3.

Ewan was the jewel of the prequels. He can carry a film pretty well. I'd be excited. More than I am to see a prequel Han Solo movie.

Plus he loved playing Obi-Wan.

I remember watching the special feature making of for the Phantom Menace (I may be mistaken, but I'm pretty sure it was on a VHS copy). They showed a clip of McGregor filming the Duel of the Fates and getting pushed off a platform onto a crash pad. A stunt guy runs over to him to help him up and Ewan looks up and him and goes:

"'Do you want to do Star Wars?', they asked. I said f***in right."

Yeah I remember that clip too it was just sure joy for him and he was thrashing around on the pad while saying it.

I have this behind the scenes of making revenge of the Sith. And it covers everything from pre pre shooting right through to final editing.

Portman really came across as disconnected. Hayden was described as physically gifted, but it just seemed that he struggled to grasp Anakin. Ewan was right into the whole thing and he was kind of the set prankster with Samuel Jackson.

The interviews with Ian McDarmid and the descriptions of his scenes were amazing. He was really into being Palpatine and loved the character. When they were shooting the opera house scene when he starts his seduction of Anakin the entire cast and crew were like holy crap, that was amazing.

Portman is fine in Episode I, especially considering her age.

It's when she was forced to act out a terribly written romance with Christensen who was consistently unbearably bad that she clearly started to lose interest in being in the films. I don't blame her.

Yeah. It's not an accident the best (only other) romance in the series is a mostly unspoken one containing two kisses and largely built on the strong performances and likely real-life romantic tension between the actors.

Little bit of column 'A' and a little bit of column 'B.'

Why not have a story set in the Star Wars Universe that has nothing to do with the Old Republic or the current Galactic Conflict? From what I understand the Star Wars Universe seems like a fairly enormous place, perhaps there are more stories worth telling within it.

That's basically wanting more Star Wars that has none of the stuff that makes Star Wars interesting. I don't think it even makes much economical sense.

Outside the jedis, Force, rebels and Empire, the Star Wars universe is pretty generic fantasy scifi stuff with no real theme to it. Most of it isn't that good, which is a big reason why they've dumped almost all of it from the canon.

I'm sure there's a few good stories in the gazillion books and comics, but I'd much rather see some little harder scifi filmed. Or film some other fun universe. With the popularity of Peter Dinklage showing unusually short people can be stars, maybe they could do a few Vorkosigan films. (Dinklage himself would make a great older Miles Vorkosigan.)

There were three prequels. The exact number there should have been. Stand alone movies are cool and serve to expand the Star Wars Universe. Don't worry, Episode 8 is out in December.

Rogue One's plot was taken directly out of an event referenced in Ep. 4 and tied directly into the starting scenes of Ep. 4. And you don't consider that a prequel???
