I want the Isles to fall to the wild card just to see the insanity of a Rangers Islanders playoff round

Tough. I think it will be the Habs that end up taking Iginla if they are ahead of the flames in the draft.

The Pens late season surge is a great story.

Go Sid Go.

McDavid at 36/37 would never lead a team that's down and out at the deadline like that.

MTL will have a great selection of talent at 5th. Would they really pick Iginla over a Lindstrom or Dickinson?

There are rumours posted on the draft thread that they are very, very high on Iginla. I think one said that they’ve interviewed him 4 times and have scouted him heavily. Combine that with the monster playoffs he’s had and it’s becoming less of a reach than most would have thought 2 months ago.

Could be 9th if we catch Seattle, unless I'm mistaken

In theory, the Flames could still catch Seattle, Buffalo, New Jersey, or Minnesota (on a tiebreaker).

In practice, all those teams are at least four points ahead, and the Flames are not on a pace to get four points the rest of the way.

The other day I took the previous 10 games by the Flames, Habs, Senators, and Coyotes, and extrapolated to the end of the season. All four teams would have ended up tied with 77 points.

If I do the same thing with today's standings (rounding to the nearest point), it looks like this:

Ottawa 78
Calgary 77
Arizona 77
Montreal 76

Looks like it's going to be a very close turtle race.

Sure, mathematical possibility, but unlikely. Both have 5 games remaining.
Seattle wins 1, Flames need to win 3.
Seattle wins 2, Flames need to win 4.
Etc

My boss got tickets so I went to the Leafs game tonight - not a Leafs fan, so my first game at Scotiabank. It was a pretty good game to watch. I don't know if it was shown on TV but Rodion Amirov's family was there and had a nice moment.

As for the game, the Leafs sure create a lot of chances - in both ends. And not sure how much a better goalie would have helped the Devils much - they are terrible in their own end, at least tonight.
