Israel announces largest seizure of Palestinian land in the past 30 years
"Israel has announced plans to expropriate 400 hectares (988 acres) of Palestinian land in the West Bank.
The decision to appropriate land south of Bethlehem is believed to be the largest seizure by Israel in 30 years."

Isn't 400 hectares about 4 square km?

There's more than enough to show how Israel is bullying their way through the Palestinian problem without resorting to hyperbolic headlines. Jeezus

Hyperbole: deliberate and obvious exaggeration used for effect.
By all accounts, the headline is completely accurate; the 400 hectares would be the largest seizure of Palestinian land in 30 years.
Your apparent willingness to shrug it off as not a big deal doesn't make the statement an exaggeration.
For comparison, the seizure of 4 square km of the West Bank by Israel is the equivalent of the Federal Gov't seizing 470 square km of Alberta, such as over half of the city of Calgary. Do you think that would go over as not a big deal?

The West Bank is 5,640 km2. The fact this is the biggest land seizure in 30 years should say something about the pace at which the West Bank is disappearing.
This is nasty business though. It's all a propaganda war at this point. Hamas kills 3 teens and then declares victory, Israel uses then shows it not playing around.

The military-run local administration said it was a response to the kidnapping and killing of three Jewish teenagers in the area in June.

Unfortunately for everyone involved, the "peace process" has become a series of strong men trying to one up each other.

This is what people need to understand about this conflict, whether the Palestinians resist violently or peacefully it makes no difference.Israel will either bomb or build. Remember this story the next time israel says it was just minding its own business and the Palestinians engaged in a violent act for no reason.

Hamas has put the Israeli politicians are in a position where they have to react to the recent round of violence. This is a direct response to Hamas murdering three children, starting a war, and then declaring victory at the end of that war.

So, the 2000 + dead Palestinians aren't enough, Israel also has the right to build in the West Bank (where Hamas is not the gov't)? If that's the punishment for 3 children, I wonder how Israel would react if someone did to Israel what it does to the Palestinians.

I knew this would come up. It's also the equivalent of the Vatican seizing a hop Scotch game. It's completely irrelevant what size in a bigger country. It's still 4 square kilometres. The land seizure is the bigger issue. No one uses hectares. They only used 400 hectares because it sends bigger, that's the issue I have.
Why use hectares?
