ISIS has captured a Syrian air force base along with a number of Russian provided combat ready jets. They promptly executed 250 Syrian soldiers captured at the base and issued the following statement.
Quote:
“Vladimir Putin, these are the Russian planes that you sent to Bashar. Allah willing, we will take them back to your own turf, and liberate Chechnya and the Caucasus, Allah willing… Your throne is being threatened by us.”

And I'm sure ISIS has a bunch of guys that are capable of flying those fighter jets.
Hopefully they kill a bunch of themselves trying to learn.
Or Putin sends another squadron to bomb the air base and get rid of the jets and ISIS fighters stationed there. In fact, I hope Putin gets pissed off by this and attacks ISIS on his own. The west may not even have to lift a finger.

I don't know if this has been posted yet but I watched this frontline episode a couple of days ago.
Once again, Frontline smokes this one out of the ballpark, giving an amazing rundown on events and the people involved which helped foment ISIS, and the roots of their rage and funding.
It's about an hour and a half long, but it was an incredible watch. Highly, highly recommended.
Here is a slightly lower quality version

Canada's next contribution to the fight against ISIS in Iraq will be "several dozen" members of the Armed Forces, Prime Minister Stephen Harper announced today — and CBC News has learned that includes special operations forces.
The contingent of special operations forces will work closely with U.S. forces but remain under full command of Canada's Chief of Defence Staff.
The forces will come from the Special Operations Regiment. No specifics were available on what type of work they'd be doing, but Harper has said the Canadian Forces deployed to Iraq won't be involved in combat.

Yup, read that too. Great to see Canada playing it right too. Make the Arab nations put their boots on the ground and help them with resources they can't actively get like airstrikes and equipment.
Have to think JSOC is right in the middle of it right now. If NATO and the US plays this right, the current state of the ISIS should be easily defeated. Stop the ethnic genocide at least for the time being.

One thing to be wary of is America and NATOs penchant for arming the enemy of our enemy.
In that frontline episode I posted above, they go into detail on the payments to various groups in Iraq that occurred as way to buy peace that have since been used to fund and arm radicals like these.
It's from the same playbook as the Mujahadeen.
Edit: We're talking hundreds of millions of dollars to Sunni tribes. Patreus authorized hundreds of millions of dollars in what are essentially bribes that are now being used to fund ISIS.
