Or I'm getting drunk at the hotel because we got evac'd.

I really thought that it would be a bit more hectic and crazy here, considering the media is touting "500000 displaced citizens on their way to kurdistan".

Honestly, I just drove the highway from Mosul to Erbil, not a single person was walking along the highway and traffic was quite dead. The main checkpoint into Erbil barely had anyone there.

I'm starting to believe that the media is making this out to be a bit more than it is.

One of my Pakistani employees has a friend in Mosul,
He is saying that the city is quite calm where he is right now and the majority of his community does not see the takeover as something quite so upsetting.

This clashes with the major news cycles representation of the situation.

It's a bit alarming.

Looks like they are on the move as well. Tikrit the latest target. Why isn't the Iraqi army dealing with this. They supposedly have a huge number of troops and the rebels have like 5000 members tops.

Apparently Tikrit is gone now. Gonna be a very interesting next few days.

Kurdish forces are trying regulate who comes into Kurdistan but as we all know, filtering that amount of people is nearly impossible. Could see some action here within Kurdistan in the next week or so. The Persmega will have their hands full keeping this volume of people in check and their borders secure.

Will this turn into the Civil War that was sparking in the mid to late 2000's?

So, according to Facebook, this is somehow Obama's fault. Republicans sure love themselves some cognitive dissonance.

My facility has been pretty normal so far. Had an evac for an hour yesterday, ended up being a false alarm.

Now my buddy, who's project is about 20kms closer to Mosul, can't say the same thing.

Last night their site was attacked by armed insurgents. People were hiding in the ceilings and under the floors of their rooms as angry Kurds fired off AK's and trashed the facility.

I give it about a week before we can truly see the scope of what this will all amount to, but it's not looking very good for the current Iraq government and the shi'ites in the south. The Suuni are pissed and the Syrians have US equipment, weapons and humvees.

Gonna be ugly.

I stepped in a puddle the other day and blamed Obama. I'm sure I could link it to him somehow.

"If Obama had approved the Keystone Pipeline then the City would have enough money to pave the streets in gold and then there would be no more puddles.

Goddamned Obama!"

Default well considering

For the longest time the Obama administration's chorus for any negative outcome was "It's Bush's fault!". You would think they might be responsible for something after being in office for nearly 7 years.

Pretty hard to argue that even the current situation isn't more Bush's fault than Obama's

I agree. Obama really needs to take responsibility for that unwinnable war he didn't start.
