Anyone say Dougie Hamilton yet? He's only a teen ager still, give him another year and he could be where Doughty was when they picked the Vancouver team.

What's actually strange is that people are actually frazzled by a TSN team Canada segment that's one year ahead of any actual game play. I'm sure Yzerman is taking these picks to the bank.
I saw this TSN selection bit yesterday and Schultz wasn't even listed on the team. I'm pretty sure one of the analysts basically put him on the list as a wildcard selection.

Exactly. And it's not even about disagreeing with opinion. For example I think Ferrero's choice of Coburn is ridiculous however it is his opinion against mine and Coburn does have a track record of being a good defenseman over the last decade. At least he's borderline in some circles.
To even recommend Schultz is such a ridiculous and obvious fan catering choice which throws all credibility in the toilet.

Darren Pang. His analysis is just as good as his goaltending.
Oh and Cale Hulse.

Ridiculous just like this thread. Who gives a crap what someone on tsn says. Also pondered this, what "IF" Schultz wins rookie of the year and goes onto having a fantastic start to next season?

If he goes on to win the Calder and has a fantastic start to next season, then that would be the point in time to start discussing his candidacy for the Olympic team.
Doing so now is only slightly less ridiculous than suggesting Nathan MacKinnon should be on the team.

That's as ridiculous as saying if Bouwmeester wins the Norris he should be on the team.
And Bouwmeester's played for Canada twice!
This thread may be ridiculous but I'm not being paid to produce it, Pang is being paid by me for this nonsense.

I'm asssuming Pang was going out on a limb with Schultz. For the record I don't think he will or should be on the team, but its not that ridiculous to think that Schultz the guy who every team in the nhl would take in a heartbeat could play himself on the canadian roster.

If the Calgary flames signed him and he was playing as well as he is, loads of CPers would probably be saying the same thing. He will likely be a top defender by 2018, but not for Russia.
That being said, a last complete roster posted was pretty solid.

All better. I did not include some vets that are definite no's (Regher, phillips etc).
At this moment I would put all the guys I listed ahead of him.

I don't think that Schultz is all that great either, but why do we get so butt hurt when someone says the Oilers are awesome?
These guys are paid to produce entertainment, not the evening news. Their opinion is that the"hope" being peddled up north is oh so exciting. So what? Opinion is the flavor of the day in sports journalism, not impartial facts. That's the way it's been for decades, and we probably wouldn't be so upset if it wasn't the Oilers.
I think the Oilers will be out of the basement for years to come, but they won't be great...ever, unless they build a proper team. However, I think the problem here it's us, not them. Should they change their opinions to reflect good on all seven Canadian franchises?

A good chunk of those guys are debate able. If Myers finds his game he is a dominant player. Bouwmeester need two good years, but his experience on big ice helps his case. Garrison could be the next Ballard. Dougie Hamilton is more likely than Schultz due to his WJC experimence and better two way play. Could be the rounds Doughty. Brewer and Mitchell are too old.
