Milos might be close to falling out of the top 10 now with the points he lost here. Has to find a way into the top four seeds to avoid the deadly draws. But Novak might be done for the year now so that should open up a section for the US Open.

Gabriela Dabrowski and partner Rohan Bopanna were victorious in their mixed doubles match (7-6(5), 6-2)

He couldn't play at all today.

he got screwed by the schedule, but also said that the shoulder is a lingering thing that's been around for a while. he aggravated it and I doubt that the standard 1 day of rest would have been enough to fix it. from yesterday's interview:

Quote:
A lingering right shoulder injury flared up in Djokovic's victory over 51st-ranked Adrian Mannarino in the fourth round at Wimbledon on Tuesday, adding a measure of doubt to his quarterfinal match against 11th-seeded Tomas Berdych on Wednesday.

"It's been something that I've been dragging back and forth for a while now," said Djokovic, a three-time Wimbledon champion and 12-time Grand Slam winner. "But I'm still managing to play, which is the most important thing."

let's not take Wimbledon off the hook. It's by far the worst run tennis tournament

No need to be snarky. It wasn't meant to be rude toward Djokovic. He wasn't pleased with being pushed to the next day after the marathon match between Gilles/Rafa and stated as much.

I didn't mean to be snarky so I am sorry if it came out that way. Just his performance today had nothing to do with the scheduling but rather with his injury he aggrevated.

IMO, if he needa surgery, now is the perfect time. He hasn't been at his best the past year so some rest might do him some good.

Also, Canadian junior Carson Branstine won both her singles and doubles match today. Keep it going Carson.

Branstine, Canada’s lone player in the junior draws, was a winner in both singles and doubles. In singles, she defeated Mai Hontama of Japan 6-4, 6-2 to reach the quarter-finals and triumphed in her opening doubles match with Mara Kostyuk of Ukraine. Branstine will face third-seeded American Claire Liu for a spot in the semifinals.

"The specialists that I’ve talked with, they haven’t been really too clear, mentioning also surgery, mentioning different options. Nobody was very clear in what needs to be done," Djokovic said. "Yeah, I guess the break is something that I will have to consider right now."

A win at Wimbledon would give Federer 19 majors and 4 up on Nadal. I could see Nadal winning the French another 2 or 3 times alone.

Well it can work for sure. In both of their cases they've just pilled on the mileage the last few years, so few tournaments they didn't go into at least the semis. A six month break for R&R and injury healing would do them both wonders, though I suspect Andy sticks it out for the rest of the year while skipping Montreal and maybe even Cincinnati too. Novak needs the rest, mentally and physically, a lot more though. If neither makes it to New York it could be the most wide open slam in ages.

would it really be open? or would it just be the Fedal show again, with two major obstacles out of their way? Stan might be the only other guy to mix things up, and he's a coin flip at best during any given major.

del Potro and some Japanese fellow are also thorns at Flushing Meadows. I do love the US Open.

Also, we shouldn't forget about Marin Cilic (the guy who beat some Japanese fellow) to win the US Open a few years ago.

Carson Branstine and her partner are still alive in the girls doubles - Also, Gabriela Dabrowski and partner Rohan Bopanna are currently battling it out on Centre Court trying to get to the mixed doubles semi-finals.
