At this point, does leadership on the ice even matter?

Until the Flames have some strong, competent leadership in the front office, this team will remain on its one-way trip to misstheplayoffsville.

^^ I gotta say it really does matter. There is a reason team's like the Oilers continue to struggle despite lots of talent. There's also a reason why Ottawa had such a quick turnaround to their rebuild: Alfredsson. Without Iginla we have a huge drop off in guys that can lead a team. Giordano is the only guy I can imagine wearing the C and right now he's not looking like he can handle a regular shift let alone lead the team.

I don't believe we've got an heir apparent for the C..

Glencross is the player I want to grow into the leader of a team, he's got grit and skill and can drive the play. He's not there mentally yet and disappears at times. But Glencross is a strong character, and really contributes to the community as well.

From the system, there are lots of potential guys if their development holds out. Arnold is the perfect 3 zone player. Reinhart. Ramage. Wotherspoon. Elson. Ferland. These guys all have the potential, but they've all got serious hurdles to overcome to have a chance at a career of any length in the NHL.
