That team exists to develop our players, and while it's great that some 29 year old minor league lifer is having a good season and Ward knows him, that's not what we should be using that team for.

Totally agree, I often question Ward. I believe in the "merit system" but I have to admit...not sure who is calling the Merit shot!

This is a lot less fun to watch without Baertschi, Brodie, and Horak.

Way less skill based players on this team now.

It really looks like the Playfair days, with a group of hard working grinders on each forward line.

Jeez, Wahl is playing? Haven't noticed him at all. Maybe I just wasn't paying attention.

Ha, just went onto this page to comment on how I thought Wahl has looked really dangerous out there, but I've been trying to watch him every time he's on the ice to see hows he's improved since last year.

I've been flipping back and fourth from football game and Wahl has looked pretty good the couple of times I saw him

I think he's on the bottom 6. When #14 is out, he's noticeable. He's just not out much from what I've seen.

That is good news. Not trashing the guy. I was serious when I said it just might be me paying attention (as it has been cursory at best). So far I saw him on the bench, and saw him make a nice clear .... from the offensive end.

Looks like he is playing on a line with Desbiens though so can't expect much.

On another note, Nemisz has looked strong.

Desbiens doesn't play for the heat.

Wahl's on the top line with Walter and Kolanos.

Ha. He used to .

Clearly I am way to tired to make any more comments on the play.

When n you are missing four of your top five scorers(Brodie, Street, Baertschi, and Horak) you can't expect the team to play an exciting game. Goaltending and Baertschi were enough to win games at the start of the year but now they'll need someone else to step up. Nemisz or Kolanos will need to step up big for the rest of the season. Both players have been pretty invisible for the season.

Do you guys remember when I said Nemisz was done with the Flames after this season?

0 points in 17 games does not earn you a new contract.

Yeah, it wasn't exactly a great pick when it happened, and when your skating is still something you need to work on this long after you're drafted, I think it's a pretty strong indicator that it's pretty much where it's going to get to.

At least it will open up a new contract spot. There's some value there.

I watched the game and thought Wahl was probably the Heat's best forward.

He created a lot of chances for his linemates.

I think if the Heat give him some time on that first line with Kolanos and give him some leeway to make some mistakes, Wahl can salvage his career here with this organization.

The guy is a playmaker, and he created many chances, it's not his fault that there are no finishers on the Heat.

Even though the Heat lost, I actually found the game quite enjoyable. I had a good time watching guys like Wahl, Reinhart, Nemicz, and Howse out there. I thought they all showed some promise but really need some nurturing. The hard ass routine doesn't work for everyone and you have to change it up depending on the player.

I suggest some baby gloves for Ward and staff in their handling of Wahl. The kid has a skillset that is severely lacking in the organization.

I don't think so, he's coming off an injury and just getting untracked. There are a lot of players worse than Nemisz that won't be renewed. I thought he was one of our best players last night.
