Now that the World Juniors are over, we can look back and say it was a pretty good tournament for all the Flames prospects involved...
Wotherspoon and Sieloff weren't big point producers, but that's not why they were there either. Both got significant PK time throughout the tournament, and their coaches clearly gained confidence in them as the tournament went along.
Gillies only had 20 minutes of ice time (during which, he didn't allow a goal), but he goes home with a gold medal, and this year's experience should make him a front-runner to be the starter for Team USA next year.
Granlund was named one of Finland's top three players in the tournament; led Finland in assists; and was tied for the team lead in points (second overall).
Gaudreau...What can you say about Johnny Hockey? Led the tournament in goals; led the US in points; one of Team USA's top three players in the tournament; named to the tournament All-Star team.
Most importantly: Gaudreau, Sieloff, and Gillies are all coming home with gold medals.
