So what's with the two days off between every game? Is this a scheduling quirk? A new format going forward? The extra time off would seem to be favouring the Pens in this series - they looked gassed in game 4.

I think it has to do with TV and NBC. They wanted to schedule on off days for the NBA finals.

Tomorrow French Open tennis in the morning and the Belmont Stakes in the afternoon. Saturday evening would have worked perfectly though. No NBA.

I think I heard someone on SN say it was to allow for travel between games 4/5/6/7 but that seems like a lame excuse. No way these guys need an off day and a travel day.

Were the NBA finals not scheduled after the NHL did up the cup final schedule?

It is my understanding they have the dates more or less set aside well in advance for the NBA and SC finals. The NBA had their whole Jimmy Kimmel lead in with guest stars and such. I imagine they would have needed the availability booked for the celebs well in advance meaning the games had to match up on those days.

I'm sure getbak or sureloss will correct me if I'm wrong.

Sure would've been nice to have a hockey game to watch today…

These delays between games have killed the excitement in the series. Can't believe hockey might end later than basketball. Total lamesauce.

I agree with the delay argument, but the finals always finish right around the same time the NBA does give or take a few days nowadays. In fact we are on pretty much the same schedule as last year, and 2015 Game 6 was on June 15. And this is in a year with the World Cup.
