Alberta Premier Danielle Smith adds new restrictions on questions from journalists

Smith is making it worse. it's now one question per media outlet, not just 1 question per reporter. disgusting UCP.
Alberta Premier Danielle Smith broadened her new media-question restriction policy Saturday to limit not only questions from reporters but also from media outlets.
Smith told her Corus call-in radio show that not only are individual reporters now limited to one question at news conferences — as announced Friday — she will also accept no more than one question in total from any single news outlet at an event.

Rick Bell only even needs one question. It's so long-winded, obtuse and tangential to useless quips and anecdotes, the press conference is half over. I too would limit questions to one person!

Finally Notley takes an easy win being offered to her. That press conference is probably going to produce some good quotes.

I can't believe the UCP thinks this will be a good strategy. It's going to crash and burn so quick.

Only with the fringe voters, but the sheeple base will continue.

Of course they will. UCP members could all line up to take smelly dumps on the fringe voters' lawns, steal the tires on their F-150's with the Monster Energy Drink stickers on the windows, and grift a billion dollars from them telling them it will get a pipeline built (wait a minute..), and the fringe base will still eat it up.

Aside from you and undercover referring to a different “fringe” here, you’ve gone maybe a little over the top with the last line. Reel it in.

Is the UCP "4D chess" method of reducing Smith's gaffes? That's the only plausible explanation that I can think of.

The alternative is letting Smith talk which leads to her admitting she obstructs Justice. On balance it’s probably the correct strategy.

You’re not good, actually. You’re out of pocket.
You can do better than using anal sex and “slut” as a punchline.

If she wins in May, I hope reporters keep hammering her on the obstruction of justice stuff and never let it go away. By that point, she can't really use an 'election' as an excuse to only answer one question per person.

Make a gaffe, then issue a release saying she used "imprecise language". Fewer questions means less uses of imprecise language. Probably their only hope.

I'm hoping things like this will sway a few of the undecided voters, or those who are uncomfortable with the UCP and scared of a NDP government.
One vote at a time.
I have a conservative friend who was a Kenney UCP voter, who while he refuses to ever consider the NDP, he's concerned about Take Back Alberta and Smith.
He's at the point where he says he's just not going to vote.
Considering his deepening right leaning views over the last few years, I'll take that as a win.

I just can't vote for the Wildrose party.
If they had a UCP candidate I would vote that way but in no circumstances is Danielle Smith getting my vote. This will be my first time not voting Conservative btw. What a mess.

Good for you. If you're a classic PC voter, the ANDP is more in line with actual centrism, progressivism, and pragmatic governance that respects science, change, and democratic principles. There is more Peter Lougheed in that party than any in Alberta in the past 20-30 years.
Whatever the Wildrose United Party is and their Take Back Alberta mafia overlords are, you can be sure there are bad faith intentions and poor gatekeepers of democracy behind that Frankenstein mess.
