That's a lot of money and term for a really unproven guy.

Team making signings today. Hopefully some trades over the next couple days and then unrestricted free agency

Well, take him off the backup list.

That's one heck of a raise too.

That's a lot of money to pay for a backup goalie...

Ottawa's a budget team. Does this mean Craig Anderson is on the block?

What the heck? Pretty average numbers across the board to get an AAV that high.

While Anderson was away to care for his wife, Condon provided solid goaltending and kept them above water until he was ready to come back. That tandem there works great and I think the Sens see him taking on more starts as the contract plays out.

Anyone else think Dorion is a terrible GM who happened to make a good coaching hire?

It means Anderson is 36 years old and they want to be prepared for the day his play may fall off a cliff which could come at any time.

That remains to be seen. Boucher's system works in the short term with new personnel, but over a long haul the league tends to figure it out and the results diminish quickly. It already happened to him in Tampa.

Who would possibly count on a goalie that old?

I guess Anderson only has one year left on his deal but having an expensive backup doesn't seem like a great idea unless you believe he is number one capable.
