Hickey. And he's not wrong about that.

Planning to protect a goalie because he anticipates acquiring/signing one this week? He said submission of list is saturday.

Say what you want about Burke but I find him hilarious. Treliving has full autonomy now, think he's gonna make some very shrude moves this offseason.

Good to here about Porier, could very well be a completely different player come September, glad this team is willing to stick with players through tough times like they did with Ferland.

Also nice to see some movement of sorts with stadium, hopefully they get something in the works soon. Both sides need to give a little, Flames need to realize this is not Edmonton and the team should be picking up a large portion of the bill. This city isn't a wasteland like Oiler country and isn't desperate for a new stadium like the team is.

Which is why Stone makes the most sense. Perhaps there is a verbal understanding that he's going to re-sign but not until after the expansion draft so it has no impact on the protection lists.
That's the only guy that makes sense to me.
Verbal agreement would be frowned upon by the league.

I asked about this last week (on this forum) and was reminded that he could choose to protect Johnson or Elliott as they are still under contract. He wouldn't necessarily be committing to bringing wither back by doing so.

Well hopefully this means that Poirier is going to come back with a vengeance. This guy looked like a sure fire NHLer after his rookie AHL season. Was really shocking that he fell off the map, and now I understand why he did.

Really sounds like Hickey is #4 based on the wording.

Yep, I know's it's a terrible thing to say but viewing him solely as an asset and disregarding the whole him being human thing.

This probably gives him some value back that he lost.

I got a feeling he will, glad he was able to get help before he really got to the point of no return. Looking forward to see him at his best, had high hopes for him and still do.

How so? There is no possibility of him playing until after the college season and has no pro track record. Doesn't fit.

Treliving said the next step for him is to come in and take somebody's job (i.e. in the NHL). I don't recall if he actually used the word "tough" but was implying that it wouldn't be easy to do so.

There is always a possibility, he is technically free to sign a NHL contract at any time.

Is this Stone? Not sure I understand this one.
The guy was asking if we currently had our #4d in house. Brad plainly said we don't have our 4th d under contract. Not sure if Stone fits the bill as that number but he's not under contract.

I think the point would be that long term they see Hickey as the #4.

Between:

Jankowski
Shinkaruk
Klimchuk
Poirier
Mangiapane
Pribyl (suffered an injury)
Hathaway

Hopefully the Flames can successfully fill out their forward ranks from within next season and not have to sign any over priced UFA's or give up multiple assets in a trade.
