Awhile back I asked for advice on the Galapagos Islands and cameras. Just got back from my trip and here are a few photos. Thanks to everyone who offered advice (or sold me a camera).

This isn't so much for picture quality as it is for straight coolness. But a hummingbird was stuck in my parents garage. Couldn't figure out to fly 1 foot lower to get out the overhead doors. He eventually got so tired I was able to grab him and bring him out myself. He played dead long enough for me to snap a quick picture. Once I wiggled my fingers and got him upright he immediately took off.

I've been too busy to get out much, but did a couple weeks ago looking for anything that moved. No luck, other than lots of bees! Seems to be a lot around this year which is a good thing.

All I had was a loong lens, but still had fun trying to catch these guys in flight. I got a couple interesting ones, albeit out of focus.

This past weekend, on the way to see the eclipse, we have spent a day at Yellowstone National Park. I can't say it is more beautiful than our Banff, Jasper or Yoho parks, which are much more majestic and scenic. But is is definitely very interesting. The most famous attractions over there are the Old Faithful Geyser erupting every 90 minutes almost on the clock and Grand Prismatic Hot Spring Pool. I was not overly impressed by the geyser – it really looks just like a big fountain surrounded by tourists... The Grand Prismatic, on the other hand is weird and magnificent. The colours and patterns of the rock formations affected by the sulfur and other chemicals in the groundwater are something out of this world.

The rest of the pics are here. Not all of them are sharp; that's due to the steam coming from the pools all the time and blowing into the camera lenses periodically.

The wife and I did a quick trip down to Montana this weekend and drove the absolutely stunning Going-to-the-Sun Road again. If you haven't been to Montana it's well worth the drive... I like it better than Banff personally.

So after a week of watching some glorious fall golden hours on the drive to work, I decided to haul my butt out of bed at 6:30 in hopes of catching some of that magic in Fish Creek Park... only to have one of the least golden sunrises this week. ―\_(ツ)_/―

Either way it was still a relaxing start to the day, and I managed to snap a few keepers.

Great pictures all.

The smoke and weather this summer has made for some incredible morning and evening picture opportunities. Also, it's seemed like an extra colorful fall this year. Unfortunately I've been way too busy to take advantage. Nice to see some of you have though. Keep 'em coming!

Here's about the only decent pic I've been able to take in months. Last weekend in K country.

Snowy Owls are back in the area.

This fella was using his head. Getting up higher for a better view of pray. Such a nice looking animal. So many coyotes get quite mangy and thin. This one was living well.
