For us, it was about upgrading the D. With a recent lack of scoring, we wanted a guy who could contribute from the back end. Lindholm had more points than any of our Dmen, and we're hoping he can keep those totals up in Philly.
He's not having his best year in the NHL, so we hope he rebounds to his true form after we re-ink him to a lower cost contract this summer.
More importantly, we rid ourselves of the stench that Nuge brought to the team. We were floating around .500 hockey since his arrival and ain't nobody got time for that just prior to the playoffs.
Buying low on the Nuge who I think still has a lot of upside. I hope he gets out of Edmonton. In the meantime I was short a top 6 forward and had 7 quality dmen - so this helps near-term at least.
Lindholm may have been my longest serving player - drafted the guy and kept him up until this point.
I still think Josh Manson is and will continue to be better. But this is a good deal for both sides.
