one thing after watching bits and pieces of games, we do not have a playoff-type team with our current buttersoft squad.
We need another 2-3 Popisils/Joshuas. and a Zadorov.

I thought I'd cheer for the Jets but while watching the game last night, I reflexively found myself cheering for the Avs, despite being a born and raised Winnipegger.

Draft position really doesn't matter to me. There's teams I would prefer to lose like Florida but all I really care about is the Oilers losing.

Vegas choking against the Ducks makes it really easy to cheer against them now.

Ultimately, my number one focus is cheering for Tanev.

I want the cup back in Canada so am cheering for the Oilers and Jets. Beyond that I’m cheering against Vegas and Boston.

Usually for me when the Flames aren't in it goes like this:

1st round - I just absolutely love having all this non-stop hockey, try to watch every game, not really worried about who I'm cheering for or against at this point

2nd round - Start cheering against Oilers or Canucks if they're still in it. Don't really care about anyone else. (last couple seasons I'd include Tampa and Vegas though)

3rd Round - Starting to slowly lose interest at this point, usually find myself reading about potential draft picks and flames prospects on my phone while watching games.

Final - Someone just hurry up and lose so we can get on with our offseason!

Basically every team that's won in the last 30 years has been Canadian (by roster) essentially anyway. Absolutely 0 shot I cheer for Edm/Van/Tor. Winnipeg gets a pass explicitly for having Monahan

Meh - I can find a player on every team to hate. Dallas: Benn. Carolina? DeAngelo. But the team? That takes a little more for me.

Hatred for Vegas aside, who are we cheering for in the stars/Vegas series? For the draft pick conditions?

personally cheering against the canucks, i hate them more than the oilers, I know I'm in the minority but that's because I dont know anyone in Edmonton vs having tons of friends and family in BC who are obnoxious - they told me they are looking forward to real competition once they're done with the flames in round 2015... lol

I rather have a better first than another late pick but I guess if they beat Nasvhille which they will, better they go to the 3rd and lose.

Probably Vegas as that condition triggers if they just win a single round, whereas Dallas needs to reach the finals.

I am getting bored of seeing the same matchups every year. Wish there was more variety in which teams meet in the playoffs.

1 vs. 16

teams shouldn't make the playoffs with less points than teams who miss the playoffs and lets actually reward the best teams for their regular seasons

The angst directed towards former Flames should be directed at Treliving.
Therefore I want the Leafs to fail miserably, I hate the Oilers with passion, everyone else is whatever.

As someone living in Vancouver and no longer hating their current players, I have softened on them a lot. I don't mind seeing them do well and would definitely be cheering them on if round 2 is Vancouver vs Edmonton.
Tkachuk is also still one of my favourite players so no problems cheering on Florida.

I do think they should consider going to the 1 vs 8 at the very least. The current setup makes for a lot of the same first round series year after year (Kings vs Oilers, Bruins vs Leafs, Islanders vs Hurricanes, etc). I know the NHL is trying to play up the rivalry thing but the outcomes are pretty consistent with the same teams winning the series making it a little less exciting or interesting. Also the current format is a bit of a disadvantage for teams that play in a strong division.

The issue there is you then need a balanced schedule where everybody plays everybody else the same amount during the season.

Logistically and practically its really hard to come up with such a schedule without changing the amount of games played and a myriad of other problems not the least of which would be expenses.

I don’t believe anything pro athletes say in interviews. Especially regarding where they want to play, if they intend to sign, etc.
